Good catch! I had not received the email with the offer, either.

This was almost a no brainier for me until I saw iLok requirements. It doesn't need a physical iLok but I don't want anything iLok on my PC. Oh well.

In the words of Borat... "Veddy nice!"
I almost passed on this (for no other reason than I have enough synths).
As stated above, ilok account needed, as it will store the license on your PC... but in offers the choice to store to the h/w dongle as well.
I played around for an hour with the presets... it has very many, very nice, presets... way past just factory presets ... 2500+ in all (per their site)
I kept a very loose eye on the CPU usage and only saw very low readings.
I am not sure where the future payoff is for the companies involved in this deal (although I can guess)... but for $1... amazing!
Thanks for the post, Rodal.

Thanks to OP and thanks for this reinforcement !!! My network is fast, but their server must be 'loaded' ... still ~0.5GB to go
Already enjoying Hybrid3, so this should be a treat.
Looking forward

Flash sales like these can rapidly increase the user base if they were experiencing a lack of word-of-mouth sales.
A huge influx of new customers means more chances that they will refer another person down the road to spend their money (at that time, maybe 30-40% off instead, or at full price). It doesn't cost the company much because it's a digital product.

There are a lot of companies opting for iLok Lite these days.
FWIW I have been using iLok for a long time & happily never had any problems, but the current "iLok account only" thing does seem like a very workable compromise.

Thanks for the heads-up!
Not sure how often I'll use it, but hard to say no for a pound! The patches sound a bit dated, but they are well programmed and quality is high.

Thanks for the tip. Absolute no-brainer. iLok iShmok. For one buck I'll let them install a probe in my ass.
I can't get it to install the content library though (Windows 10). Anyone had any issues?
Edit: never mind. I figured it out. The installer will only install an empty library. You need to manually move the .big file from the archive to wherever you want it.

Does this thing only consume 1GB? If so I'm off to download.
If it's one of those 30 GB monsters, then I'll pass.

Great deal! Thanks for the heads-up!
I've never been able to get the iLok dongle to work on my Win10 DAW, but the software version (authorize to PC) has always worked flawlessly. I just wish Slate Digital permitted software authorization. As of now...money wasted on Slate.
A quick note on AIR's authorization process...
The typical process (which AIR do not follow) is to ask you for your iLok User name and then automatically put the authorization in the account. You then need to run the iLok app to move the authorization to your PC.
With AIR, or at least with Xpand!2, you install the VST and then run Reaper. As soon as Reaper scans the new VST, AIR pops up a window that leads you through authorization. When it finishes, the authorization is not only in the iLok manager, it's already moved to your specified destination (PC, in my case). And then Reaper just continues to load as normal. No need to run the iLok app!

I noticed that, too! Open the PDF file, and then on Page 1, Item 1, click on the link to download the Mac or PC installer. You do need to be able to click on links in PDF files, so hopefully, you haven't totally disabled that functionality.

Your iLok Account page should have an Available TAB at the top. Did you go there and select Xpand!2 ? You need to then double click and click on Activate.
Also, when you de-RAR'd, there were (3) Folders? Did you run the .exe ?
Not trying to be too basic ... sorry

Thanks for the heads up, but one question.
Have no experience with Ilok at all, but I'd like to know if authorization on an offline computer is possible, I didn't find info about that on the I lok site.
Thanks in advance.
I guess I found the answer googling, not possible unless you buy a dongle from I lok.

It's a hardware dongle, you can authorize on any computer, and then stick your iLok into your DAW computer to use the software.
I know many people hate iLok but actually it is very flexible, allowing you to switch between computers (flip side is when there's a glitch with the software which is rare but it does happen).

That was probably the most cumbersome installation/authorization procedure I've ever seen. Boo!
This whole iLok thing is similar to other DRM applications and seems to work, so not good but fair enough (once you get the picture). But seriously: who came up with the great idea of letting you download a PDF and having you figure out how that relates to the product you just purchased. What a shopping experience! I think somebody should be slapped in the face for that. Must be the author of "Top ten ways to confuse your customer".
Oh and: my first post so hi folks!

No need for physical dongle in this case. License can be downloaded and activated with the iLok license manager.
I bought Xpand! 2 yesterday. Insane amount of presets, some amazing synth sounds. Most of the acoustic instruments are just meh. Great loops and electronic drums.
For only $1, you have to be crazy to not buy it.

Errr.... Perhaps I'm crazy!!!! On the other hand, perhaps I'll buy it anyway just in case I decide to put a foot into the murky waters of iLok land at some stage.....

I bought an ILOK2 two years ago and i have not had any problems whatsoever. For this VST and other software you don't need an ILOK Dongle, not even the Ilok Licence Manager software on your Pc, just an account on Ilok.com.

I purchased this at a discount (not $1) a while back on impulse, and it does require PACE. So it's off my machine and unused...
