Default Cumbersome midi

I've tried working a with a song:
recording midi-piano,
tempo-mapping,
adjusting tempo,
adding and adjusting midi manually.

It's kind of a @#%%.
Partly it's me not knowing the right way of approaching the tasks in Reaper, and partly Reaper seems not up to the task.

What state should I expect Reaper to be in regarding these tasks now?

There are some users (and the developers) who believe that you just need to get used to the interface.

There are others who agree with you. Take a look at this thread.

I compose MIDI tracks using Cakewalk, and eventually import into Reaper to render and audio mix. But when editing is required, I go back to Cakewalk and repeat the process. The TuxGuitar mod is an attempt to have some ability to edit midi notation without disrupting workflow and creativity.

Yes, I guess it'll be better when I'm more into the Reaper-way of doing things.
But, a good software meets the users where they are, making it easy and providing different paths to the same controls.

BTW: TuxGuitars looking cool
