Default No Prompt to create Multi Channel output?

Hello and Happy New Year,

There must be an obvious answer to this, but I can't find it in preferences, user guide, or action list. When I open a multi-channel VST instrument such as Kontakt, I'm not getting the prompt to ask about opening multiple tracks to accomodate the available channels. I don't know when or why I stopped I getting it, but I know I used to. How do I get this back?

Later,
Hartley

Hey Hartley. Happy New Year to you too.

How are you adding the VSTi? AFAIK the routing dialogue only pops up when you use 'Insert virtual instrument on new track' or drag the VSTi straight from the FX browser to an empty part of the track list area.

HTH.

Andy

Also, many multi-out instruments need you to set up a number of outputs first (and need a restart so they can report the number of wanted outputs to the host).

Default That's it Exactly!

Andy,

Yes, that's the solution. I had been clicking on the effects area for an existing track in the mixer to insert the vst. When I do it using the Insert dialogue, it works fine.

Thanks for the quick response,
Hartley
