Deleting Takes

I'm cleaning up some recordings and getting rid of Takes that I don't want. In some cases I Select the Take I want to delete click on "Delete Active Take" and it goes away Lane and all. However on other attempts the Lane remains visible. It's empty but still there.
What am I doing wrong?

When you right click the track click remove item or select track press delete on the computers keyboard

Check OPTIONS > TAKE LANE BEHAVIOR > SHOW EMPTY TAKES LANES.

Thanks guys the "Options" menu does the trick. Now I've got another question pertaining to takes. I have, this evening, deleted many different Takes from my tracks. However on one particular track (track#3 in the attached picture) I have 2 takes. I want to delete Take# 1. But each time I select it and then choose "Delete Active Take", Reaper is deleting both Takes (1 & 2). As a side note, I tried selecting Take# 2 and deleting it. That works as it's supposed to,Take# 2 is removed and only Take# 1 remains. But for some reason when I try to delete Take# 1 it deletes both 1 & 2. I'm open to suggestions.

I got it. Seems I had to separate where the takes were joined and then I was able to delete Take# 1
