Welcome aboard! Be careful, the Reaper itch grows FAST
4 advices:
1- Get the SWS extension
2- Get the Reapack extension
3- Watch Kenny Gioia's reaper videos. (Google it)
4- Check Out reaperblog.net

Hello and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. Make sure that you:
--------------------------------
As for advice - don't try to learn all of Reaper at once (you would be gone some time). Pick one of your Ableton (sequential) projects and recreate it in Reaper - learning one step at a time.
Plug-ins? Any third-party ones that you used in Ableton. Reaper's own FX. But don't get any more until you really need them. Then ask for specific suggestions here.

Hello and welcome.
I don't know how Ableton works but the best advice I got about REAPER was RIGHT CLICK EVERYTHING. Not a very structured approach but it's amazing what you will find...

Coming from Ableton you will probably be missing the drum rack and the playlist features most. Other than that things are pretty similar.

+1000 for Kenny's Video, the channel name is "Reaper Mania" but you can also find it in the homepage of Reaper
For Drum Racks, slicing, etc... I use Geist 2, yes it's a third party plugin. You can definitely achieve similar results with reaper plugs but it could be a pain in the ...
(I switched from Live too and I'm super happy)

If you are going to use many vst instruments I recommend you to organize them in track templates ready to use with all routings assigned etc.
