Default check my mix (so far)......Something by the Beatles

Hi,

I'm working on a cover of The Beatles 'Something', I've been mixing for a couple of days now and I could do with some objective opinions.

I still need a guitar but i'm going ahead with the mix until I get one as I have to get this finished by next thursday.

Drums
Vocals
B Vocals
Rhodes
Hammond
2nd Hammond in choruses
Bass guitar
Ukelale
Sample strings

All me except for the Uke which is played by my son.

opinions please.....thanks!

I've made the B3 a bit more present and also compressed the Ukes to bring them out a bit more.

I think I need to automate the backing vocals so that the doubles in the choruses are a bit lower in the mix.....just for presence really.

I'll post a new mix up later.

As a whole I think it's really good, so this should be regarded as personal opinions, for what it's worth:

Organs - as it is now, they act more like fillers than anything else, wether that's the intention or not

Ukulules - need to be brought up more, agreed

Drums - is it just me, or is the snare a bit too up front in volumeness?

Thanks!

Glad we're thinking along the same lines.

I've updated the mix above with a new one......I've eq'd a few things and re-done the main reverb sends.

....still a couple of timing tweaks to do....and its all gone quite on the guitarist front, but definitely getting somewhere.

You said you were gonna do some more tweaking, but I cant keep myself from commenting anyway:

It wasn't bad before, but oh, yes...this is definitely an improvement still. The uke and organs now add character to the soundscape.
