Default Midi keyboard not responding accurately

I have a MIDISPORT 1X1 connected to a basic Yamaha keyboard via midi and when I try to use it it's like the keys are not responding accurately. When I press a key it either doesn't play the note, plays a strange sound or plays the note like I'm holding down the key but I'm not. I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers but with the same result. I even tried several virtual instruments in Reaper. Also the keyboard works fine when played without midi. Any help is appreciated.

- Did you turn the Yamaha keyboard "Local off" (if it has internal sounds, you may need to disconnect the "internal connection" between the keyboard and the sound electronics this way).

- Try to enable "low latency/low precision mode in the device output's right-click context menu.

- There have been complaints about issues with some (in particular older I think) M-Audio MIDISPORT and Uno interfaces on various hosts:

Some Uno interfaces are defective:

Thanks for the advice. I tried it with local on then off but same thing. Also tried the low latency setting. I think I will buy some midi cables and hook the keyboard up through my Tascam midi interface to see if that works, then I can tell if it's the Uno or not.

I am now using the keyboard on another MIDI interface and it works great!
