Default MIDI events independent of tempo

It would be useful to have the ability to make midi events not based on tempo. In otherwords, rather than setting midi item source property to "ignore project tempo and follow specific tempo:" another option would be "ignore project tempo, follow project time".

Why? If you record a midi items over a varying tempo, then move it to new location where you don't have the same variation in tempo, you can't do it without the location of the midi event relative to one another getting changed. If you have the source "follow project tempo" then the relative location of the midi events changes. if you have source "ignore project tempo and follow specific tempo:" then the events also move because they were not recorded at single specific tempo.

What is needed a method to set the time base of midi events to project time.

thanks!!

On a kinda related note, maybe a useful tip to some here:

Create midi in an event already set to "Ignore Project Tempo". This avoids the problem described by the OP.

You can then convert the free-form midi recording to tempo based by "Apply Track FX as new Take (MIDI Output)" if you wish to go back to the normal behavior for whatever reason.

not quite Tomm - the problem is with midi that has been recorded in a section that has tempo changes, say a midi overdub on top of a live track that has been tempo mapped. That midi can't be relocated to a place with different tempo info - ignoring project tempo doesn't help in this case...
