Default Recorded entirely with REAPER

Hey I'm Gaz and I make tunes in Reaper and I thought I might just share them around here...I'm only recording properly 2 months with this software(I used to be on cubase back in the last millenium)..and thanks to these forums and Yep's thread my skills are improving daily.

I use an AKG C535EB mic into a Behringer ULTRAGAIN 200O pre amp
An INFRASONIC quartet sound card
Monitor on Yamaha MSP 5's

I have a VHT 6watt tube amp
and a Fender Telecaster with a humbucker at the bridge
and my friends Rickebacker and sansamp
Oh and Addictive Drums
and the mighty REAPER.

hey, it's not my kind of music anymore, but it's definitely a great piece of work! you really have some good ideas there!

this is the proof once more that musical ideas count much more than expensive equipment ...

love the "tea & fags"-video. your mum at your side?

EDIT: Just had a listen to your old stuff ...COPVAN ist awesome, man. AWESOME!!!

Thanks guys!

Check it out..Tea'n'fags just got a 4 star review in Irelands National Broadsheet!!

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...286903539.html

GO REAPER!

Yeah and I would totally agree about the equipment thing...I'd say a lot of people starting out reading forums and stuff would be intimidated by a lot of peoples gear list..but that stuff really dosent matter...heres my "studio" http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7360708_n.jpg
notivce I have no bass traps or room treatment or even a mic stand....I just keep my signal above the noise floor anfd hope for the best...REACOMP is the sound of rock'n'roll BIGTIME!

If anyone needs convincing that REAPER is'nt a "pro DAW" they need to get out of the house more!

Brilliant stuff

I'd do a none expletive version of,"Cop Van" as I think it has real commercial potential and would most likely get air-play in that form. All your stuff is good.

I did a quick re-master just to see what I could get out of it,

THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!

I don't think I'll be releasing that one commercially though..John Denvers ghost would destroy me for copyright on the chorus

Glad you said that<grin> however if it ever does get released you just pay MCPS/Performing rights and if the song is ever officially published it's quite easy.

http://www.prsformusic.com/creators/...ages/MCPS.aspx

My old band had to pay the Beatles<grin> as we covered one of their songs many moons ago

Great job, Paul! Sounds really nice!

I'd go for airplay, too! That song really has got potential ...Which Denver song did inspire you? Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about it and do it as Shep proposed. There's no musical idea (or any kind of art) that hasn't been presented yet in any form. We all have our inspirations.

As you is a,"Brit" just use the old trick of substituting,"Effing" or,"Flippin'".Sometimes NOT using the expletive is more powerful anyway because of the over use of the,"F" word and within the context of a song.

The link for the booth was some one else's.I've not made a booth.I just have a piece of foam rubber at the back of my mic to stop rear reflections where my stand is positioned. It was out of an old mic box/padding.

There's plenty about so shop around,

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=a....c0.m270.l1313

With a bit of that and some hard cardboard and say an old wire coat hanger to stiffen/shape I bet you could make one if these dead cheap,

Awesome song as usual, Gaz! Way high on the energy scale!

How do you create the high voice that doubles the verse? Is it automatically generated from the lead vocal or did you sing it again up there?

Nice one Steve!

Yeah, I sang it falsetto and compressed the shit out of it and phased it a bit.
I do have to manually fix the tuning on it in parts though which is a pita

I usually record all vocal lines about 6 times as identical as I can..them comp the best double track of each..50% pan on the B vox....then 75% pan on the incidental bits..and bingo!
