Default MIDI track splits automatically!

Hello all,
I'm new here and am loving Reaper. I'm a refugee from Pro Tools.

I have a simple project using a midi track. I have a virtual instrument on this track (Kontakt 4...works fine) and when I'm recording, all is well, but when I hit stop the track automatically splits on beat 2 of measure 6. I then have two takes sitting back to back on the same track. Unfortunately, I don't want that, especially as the track has split in the middle of long sustained notes.
This track is the first (and thus far,) the only one to be recorded.

I deleted the midi notes and re-recorded on the same track. I got the same result.

I then added new tracks trying to replicate this action. They won't do it...they're fine.

I deleted the track and started over...new track, re-instantiating the virtual instrument. This time, no problem.

Can anyone suggest what I might have done to that track to cause this behavior?

Thanks,

Glenn
