Hi,

This may have been covered already, but couldn't find it with a semi-brief search. I attempted to set-up a multi-outs for recording last evening with HG Fortune's Percumat2, but failed miserably! This VSTi, along with DrumburstX, and Ghost Machine, prompts one to use multiple outs upon loading, however, it's an audio (automated) device so no MIDI. There's just a START, PAUSE, and STOP button, and the "preset" loops for however many bars one sets it up for. Not really sure how to, (or if I can), use these VSTi's in Reaper. I do have a an old tape deck I could use to just record, and then send back into my computer, but if I can do this within Reaper it would be much easier. My sound card does support multi's...BTW.

(a) right-click in the TCP area below any existing tracks,
(b) select "Insert virtual instrument on new track",
(c) select the VSti,
(d) click [Yes] on the "Build Routing confirmation" window; that will create tracks for all of the audio outputs from the VSTi.
Now you will have the VSTi on one track, automatically Armed for Recording from all Inputs, and several tracks for the audio outputs from the VSTi. Cancel RecArm.

Within the VSTi, set it up as necessary, especially setting the routing for the audio to the different output pairs.

Via the diagram, I have connections across the top, NOT diagonally as shown. What am I doing wrong, OR is my soundcard not able to multi out?

or do you mean something like this?

If so, then you have not clicked [Yes] on the "Build Routing confirmation" window, so Reaper creates a stereo track, and no additional output tracks.

But this routing is long before anything gets to your sound-card, so you do not need worry about that at the moment.

Is "Build Routing Confirmation window" seperate from the one that pops up and asks "number" of outs, (i.e. every time I launch Kontakt)? And yes, that was the illustration I was referring to. Where the small shaded boxes are, I have X's. Sorry about all the confusion...and thanks for your patience!

It's the same one: it says "Build routing confirmation" in the title bar!

As for x in the boxes -never seen that (unless you are looking at the overall Routing Matrix.

What happened when you tried the 4 steps I listed above?

I clicked "YES". I got 6 channels, (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12). Cancelled RecArm in VST. Pressed the play button and got no signal. switched the record input on each track to record output, and only got a signal on channel 1/2, the entire signal. Not sure where I'm going wrong.

In Kontakt - create additional channels in the Output section (Mixer) then route each instrument (or drum kit piece or ...) to a different Mixer channel. I do not know those other VSTis you mentioned, so cannot advise there.
