Default Video playback issue (freeze)

When video items touch each other or very closed, video freezes randomly.

The video format is mp4. No video item below the problematic item.

Somtimes, on this project, i have windows blue screen 0x00000101.

How to explain this ?

Show us source properties and Project Settings/Video tab.

Are you editing on the frame grid?
Does the source frame rate and project frame rate match?
Is the project video size the same as the source video size?

Does it happen when audio is not in the video clips?
Does it happen when not in free item positioning mode?
Does it happen if there isn't a small gap between the items?
Does it happen when advancing the cursor 1 frame at a time?
Does it happen when rendering the project?

I'm not able to remove the video clip audio.
It happens when there is only audio inside the video clip or not.

Reaper is not keeping up it seems, though perhaps the file format itself is the possible problem. Editing on the frame grid could fix it too. That's always a good idea anyway.

You could transcode that one video item to a more editing-friendly format, and then swap out the source file for those items.

Tencoder can do such a transcode. Prores 422 is a decent format for this. The target container format could be a Quicktime .mov or MKV. Select Copy for the audio. Tencoder is free.

" You could transcode that one video item to a more editing-friendly format, and then swap out the source file for those items."
With the two Reaper Lossless formats, the color video is strange.
With other formats, the video freeze issue remains...

sure, I went on a trip this weekend and did some field recording.

Why do you ask?

Can't explain windows blue screen crashes just from the number.

You should look in the Event logs to see what was happening around the time of the crash.

You asked me to answer some questions.
What's the point if you don't say anything about my answers?

Seems like this is the cause.
