Default Having a little trouble setting things up

Hi all,
I am pretty new to Reaper and although I have recorded some things with great success I find now I am having a bit of trouble setting up how my screen looks, well. it is more these white bars at the top of the clock and video window that I am finding annoying.
Is there any way to remove these bars so that my screen looks a bit more as if I am in control?.

This is how my screen looks when I add video and clock( I now have blackmore instead of default)

That's your prison grid

If you click the magnet looking icon just left of the padlock (top left) you can select anywhere without being 'locked' or 'snapping' to the grid

Thanks for that man, but that isn't doing anything to rid the white box/header..

It's the caption bar of video window.

It can be undocked and placed anywhere.
A second monitor even.

Yes I know that thanks, I want to know if the white part cant be removed or coloured to match the background so that it blends in more and isnt sticking out like an eyesore..

It's a standard windows caption and then a standard menu bar below.
Why it becomes all white by you, don't know.
I have it undocked and then colors follow what any program window gets - but run the Aero stuff.

Are you running some high contrast windows theme?
Colors are the same as Reaper caption+menu as you can see in that screenshot.

You can probably undock and place a bit outside screen on that part....

Hi 5of8 and welcome to the forums!
REAPER uses the OS colors for that. To change that you have to use another windowsOS theme. I made a thread about how to do that (but obviously it's not a very useful thread ): How to change the color of your FX-windows with 3 clicks. Maybe it's of some use for you.

Thank you very much, That has sorted out my white box issue with reaper and it is only a matter of switching back to my desktop wallpaper in the control panel when not using reaper ..

Hey good! That's exactly what I do. And it's really simple.

Btw, the windows *.theme file can be edited with a text editor, and I also found this www.wintools.info - classic-color-panel, but haven't tried it yet. It's free.

Have fun with REAPER!
Peter

That looks interesting but I am afraid that quite a lot of times computers beat me..
I thank you again for your help, I need to be looking at amps and cabinets now as my recordings are..er.. a little flat.
