Agreed. If this was a forum for people to argue and rip each other and not provide any help at all it would be... well... GEARSLUTZ!

Well, dunno. I would want it to optionally stop at the end marker but not always. Sometimes you're recording and jamming and things just happen so I'd not want the daw to stop at the end unless I explicitly tell it to stop at the end. So, it depends.
It is odd to have to add another marker for that though.
What bugs me in Reaper is the empty timeline space you get just from scrolling around the timeline. It seems impossible to just crop the timeline to the media, I always has empty space and the horizontal scrollbar also reflects that empty space.
They all have their annoyances.

In that respect, it's a scam.

I'm posting the quote again because I find it incredibly intriguing. Why? Well, because it is so obviously not true in all points -- in fact, the truth is the exact OPPOSITE in each point made. It's equivalent would be like taking a blind man up to an elephant to feel each part -- trunk, ears, etc. -- then he steps back and tells you the animal is obviously a kitten.
Puzzling ...
And Studio One Free is cheaper, of course, but it's about the most limited of all the free DAWs available. I think even Mulab Free and Podium Free got it beat.

What's the catch with S1Free? The features list actually looks fairly impressive..

edit
The most noticeable exclusion I see is lack of VST support, but that may not be a show killer for a number of people.
edit2
Artist edition for $20 is easily as impulse buy as Reaper. If for no other reason than using as a daw-alike sketchpad.

Don't go with reaper if you're planning on doing a lot of midi. Its implementation and UX is horrendous.

I listed some stuff it doesn't have earlier in this thread. Beside that, the features it has and doesn't have are listed clearly on the website comparison chart, but as usual, nobody ever reads that stuff.

It'll probably be moot soon enough. After all this time v3 has to be showing up at some point.
But yeah, I doubt if any daw whore (which is most of us ) will ever be happy with any free product.

Seams like you were not doing much midi in cubase to not notice the difference.
