Default Reaper Random Not Responding

i can't figure out how to solve this. I have not changed anything in my reaper configuration in the past months, i used it and it always worked perfectly. the other day, i was using it, when it started to not respond.
It does it in this way: When playing or saving, sometimes, it goes "not responding" for about 15 seconds, then it awakes again. its really frustrating because it does it in every project and every time now. i can't use it with this problem. its so frustrating. I tried to reinstall it, but no luck. Possible solutions?

Background services would be my guess.
Have you at any point optimised your operating system for music production?

hummm most likely because something else is taking over the system

if on windows maybe have a look at task manger while this is happening and sort the processes tab by % cpu and see who is using the cpu

Well, i Think that it is extremely capable of substaining reaper, i run a win7 home edition through an ssd for faster load (and it doesnt need defrag), then the pc itself has got an i3 3.2 ghz dual core, with 8gb of ddr4 ram . The only thing that might have affected it is the fact that windows update is functioning in a really strange way and while being active, i can't actually see what updates it installs because it is kinda bugged (it doesnt show the updates), and i kept it active just because it felt unsecure to turn off updates completely. Does reaper have some problems with specific windows updates?

Ha...I should have added the qualifier that while I don't "tweak" my OS anymore, I always try to disable Windows Update from doing anything automatically. Since you have not knowingly or intentionally made any changes but the updates are happening behind the scenes, that might be a place to start looking for the issues.
Have you tried using a restore point and restore back to before the last Windows update?
Also, this may not solve anything now, but for the future...Do you have any kind of back-up regimen? Data AND some OS only images? If not, start now! These can be very quick problem solvers, or at least a quick way to revert a system to a place before a problem happens.

I actually have restore points, but i consider it to be a more drastic solution, i was searching for some kind of hint based on others experiences, but it seems that i have to go blindly.

"i was searching for some kind of hint based on others experiences"
This is exactly what i am trying to do....ha.

A snip of what I said:

If you haven't made major changes in a while, using a restore point isn't drastic at all, you may not notice it other than if it fixes your problems.

You mentioned having problems in "every project". Does it happen with no plugins in the project? Do you have any plugins possibly in the monitoring area that you are not aware of?

It happens even with no vsts at all. It happens on play or save , i have also tried to see the cpu usage but it is only at 11%

The fact is that i don't even know how far back i must go in order to resolve this, since it happened one day, but i wasnt using reaper from a long time, so i don't actually know if the problem was here even from before. I might try, I'll say how it will result.

you might want to try a reaper portable install to see if the issue still exists.
