I think that since so many people have so many different ways of using Reaper, it's default is fine...especially since, unlike other DAWs, with Reaper it is fairly simple to set up custom actions and tie them to a shortcut or toolbar. Everyone can have it their own way with zero feature requests or modifications to Reaper's development. But set up a feature request anyway if that suits you. But while you wait for a possible implementation (if at all), peruse the actions list for a minute or two, set it up how you want it, and get back to work with your new streamlined custom workflow!
