Background
I do alot of editing for radio these days. Often I simply tighten things up by cutting out "erms" and reapeats, unnecessay comments etc.
Working with just a stereo track, the process is to make a time selection and "remove contents of selection (moving later items)". Maybe do a little crossfade. You get the picture
Then when listening back I might regret a few cuts here and there.
So I thought why not have a "smart heal" that could reverse the before mentioned cut out process?
It works like this
Just like the normal heal, you select the two items to heal, make sure there's no crossfade in between them and hit the custom action.
It will then move them to source prefered position on a new track. Heal the items. Move it back in place - moving the later items correctly. All the other cuts and crossfades stays intact.
before
after (the erm is back!)
I just came up with this today, but it seems to work perfectly. Of cause since this involves so many action events there's a chance that it won't work if your settings/options are different from mine.
Also the thing is if you use it differently than described, it may fuck up your session (undo works fine though).
So use with caution
And let me know what you think.
PS. Needs SWS installed.
