Default FREE Korg Volca Beats Drum Samples!

Hello everyone!

I just bought the Korg Volca Beats analog drum machine and i'm in love with it. It sounds glorious. I decided to sample it and share the pack with all you wonderful people.

Recorded at 96khz, ran through UAD 610-B unison pre-amp. I tried to sample as many of the nuances of possible without there being too many samples. Enjoy!

You bought a machine that plays samples, that came with samples play.

You recorded those samples and are making them available to anybody that wants them such that they don't have to buy the machine.

I don't know ... maybe the manufacturer is OK with it.

None of my business anyway.

Please read my original post and don't post ignorant comments. I mentioned above that it's an ANALOG drum machine. (6 voices of analog, 4 PCM). I sampled a few instances of the analog voices. There is still a great deal of a reason to buy this beautiful machine. The samples are just snapshots.

I'm not here to argue, if you don't like the samples don't download them.

Touchy, touchy. I didn't call you names, or your intellect. I simply didn't understand.

Thanks for the clarification, and yes, I'll pass.

Thanks for taking the time to do this - I will check them out later I have a Keys and it's a noisy but gorgeous little bundle of joy.

@BobF - The volca range are entirely analog synths. It is completely usual practice to sample analog synths and spread the joy. Lots of commercial sample companies do exactly the same thing.

No worries

Just gave them a quick listen - some good useable stuff in there. Some of them have very low recording levels though (at least half of them have a peak level of around -30 dB. Perhaps normalise them to -6 dB or something so that they sit nicely with other drum samples. The snares all seem very short and high pitched. Does the Beats do a good lower pitched longer snare? Would like to hear that if possible. Thanks for doing them

They were actually recorded at high levels but I normalized them down because I mix at very low levels. I guess that's just my personal preference so I apologize for that! (It's actually my second time sampling so i'm still learning)

See the problem with the beats is the long decay snare sounds HORRIBLE. This is why the modding community loves to tweak the snare. Everything else is great though!

Yeah I think that folks who use samples would be expecting them to sit at around -6 or -3 perhaps. So many are normalised to 0 which is not great practice really. -6 is what I normalise all my samples to. I wasn't aware of the snare sounding bad with long decays.

Yeah it's a common complaint. It sounds really distorted and 'fizzy'. Not really useable at all unfortunately.

Will keep that in mind for next time. I will be sampling other gear and instruments

Thank you for the samples.
Yes, i have heard people complaining about the poor snare sound, but it seems to be a nice little drum machine.

-30dB seems a very low level. -3/-6dB is indeed way more usual (when it's not 0/-1dB).
