Default Moving a marker while recording disables auto scroll

Dear fellow Reapers

I've run into this problem, I hope you can help.
I'm using markers to make comments while recording. As soon as I move the first marker (still recording) auto scrolling will stop working. This means having to scroll by hand to be able to follow the sound recorded. Any tips how to change this?

BTW I have the "View: Toggle auto-view-scroll while recording" set to ON

when you do anything with the mouse, REAPER assumes you want to stop autoscrolling to be able to see and make your edit. I guess even though you aren't moving the edit cursor with the marker move, this is still true. there isn't anything you can do. except...

make this custom macro.

View: Go to Play cursor position
View: Move edit cursor to play cursor.

I have this mapped to an extra button on my mouse. controlling scrolling becomes second nature once you get the flow of it. You'd drag your marker with the L mouse button, release then hit the extra button and the scrolling falls back to whereever the play cursor is.

oh yeah... there is a prefence

AUDIO > Playback > "don't auto scroll view...."

try that if you don't like the macro thing.

however having that off makes editing while playing back cumbersome.

This is really good information. So there is a solution to re-enable auto scrolling, perfect. Did a quick try with the macro and it works!
Thanks alot
