eins zwei drei vier ... great!
that is again a great song! I like it very, very much!
ah ... welcome back from the big black hole called Christmas ...
ah well, I am listening on my studio nearfield monitors, as I do with every music. (ESI nEAR05, the old ones without the blue LED) I am in the optimum listening position. and no, the hi-end is not too hot. I find the sound really good.

Perfect!
You are sitting EXACTLY where this mix sounds right
And I'm delighted..my ears were tired...I couldnt tell if i was too toppy anymore..but so far it seems like I pulled it off

But here's a different opinion: In comparison to similar tracks I find the top end too loud, actually. Or maybe the HiMids only. It's just that the fundamentals of bass and kick are a bit too low, imho.

Yeah..I might have went a bit light on the low end alright...too busy focusing on the middle as usual

Koss porta pro headphones plugged into two different dell laptops (weren't close to my earfields recently) say it sounds deadly, no harshness detected. Stereo psychedelic guitars are brilliant, bass is murdering too, big and dirty. Superproduction if you ask me.

Well, seems like i'm the odd man out, while the top end ins't harsh sounding
it is overpowering the low end, at least on my system.
Listening on my Yamaha HS80 monitors.
The kick drum and (toms to a lesser degree ) are getting drowned out, i can barely hear the kick drum apart from the start of the song, in fact the durms in general are quite low in the mix when all the instruments are in.
The bass is cutting through nice and gritty like, but it doesn't seem to have a lot of low end weight to it.
Just letting you know what i hear on my system, since you asked and all
Another Great song Gaz, i honestly don't know how you do it, your like a song machine, they just keep coming, keep it up mate.
there's gotta be a song in there somewhere, but it sounds to me, on AKG 240s, like someone threw a cinder block into the chipper
you say in the song, "I got to where I wanted to be and didn't want to stay"
has that got anything to do with musical side of your life, or did yu make that up, or does it apply to some other aspect of your life?
I tried to figure out what you were driving at, overall, in the song, in four or five listens, but my comprehension was obliterated by the noise
I even copied the song into reper and tried to EQ it and soften the guitars up with fx, but failed
.
I don't know... have you had your ears checked lately? ...maybe after years blasting yourself with amps...
.
anyhow, I got faith in your songs and your talent, but I got no faith at all that you'll ever get much of an audience unless you bring you sound more into line with the current commercial sound

Ahh I have no desire in that regard.I'm content with what I'm doing. If I can keep it going until I'm done with it my life will have been a total success!
But I'm always striving to improve..and you and Wolfman have confirmed something I was thinking.
Its nothing a bit of mastering wouldn't sort out..with the second opinion on the mix and all that entails..but thats not gonna be happening anytime soon.
I'm happy enough getting mix translation opinions from here!

Sure I'm half deaf.I don't need a doctor to tell me that!
well, it's the same old thing, you know... if you're trying to communicate with people, you got to present the information in a way that doesn't alienate them
if the music is nothing but self-gratification, then you're okay... I mean, if that's all you want
but if that's all you want, why bother with posting your stuff on youtube and here?

it's the same argument I got into with msore... you can insist on doing stuff that pleases you, but you are, in the process, dooming yourself to a limit3ed audience of people whose musical sensibilities coincide with yours
.
the weird thing is the cellos... in television commercials and commercial music...
are they responding to some innate human sense of what is music and what isn't?
can you rewire human music sensibility so it craves loud, in-your-face distorted electric guitars?
if you cant rewire humans, your audience is gonna be limited
I've been meaning to ask you about the vaping, e-cigarettes
they're gonna ban smoking here, so I've got to do something
are the e-cigs still working for you?
Yeah..I'm still vaping away man...well I was up until two weeks ago when my kit got mislaid after a gig and then a stressful situation drove me to smoke, but not heavy.I'm waiting for a new one to arrive in the post...should be here any day
I wholeheartedly recommend it.100% .You won't believe the difference it makes to your lungs functionality
Spend a few bucks and get a good one..a Kanger. And you can get any flavour you want.

And Zeekat..you say "deadly" like an Irishman!Respect!
It's an excellent word! The best description for the ultimate stage of killerness. Had no idea it's an Irish thing.
Congrats on vaping - I know a couple of people that returned to the traditional cigs after a couple of months. But maybe it was a socio-political thing, vaping won't require you to do a cig break down the building(and get all the fresh intel in the process, like gossip and all that).

Listening on a Bose SLIII (because every audiophile likes bose amiright?) It sounds pretty good to me. I agree the the kick is pretty well lost in the mix. Its like I could still tell what it was doing for the beat, but I couldn't really hear it at the same time. I think maybe define the kick drum a bit more and maybe bring the rest of the kit up a tiny notch and you'll be kosher. That said, it sounds good as it is, if this were the type of music I listened to and I bought an album with this mix, I wouldn't be up-in-arms upset about the quality of it.

Thanks for that man.
You have heard the mix exactly as I intended it.The drums are supposed to be way below/behind the guitars.
Bingo!
