What did you buy?
OK, I'm done for this year's Black Friday and here's what I got:
Five Groove3 videos
Presonus Eris E4.5 Monitors
Mic Boom stand
Mic and instrument cables
Two Home Studio Corner Study Courses
Kevin Ward Rock Mix Course
EZ Mix 2 (hey for $50, why not?)
EZ Drummer 2 Pop/Rock expansion
I think I managed to keep it under $400 so not too bad. I'm happy with what I got. I didn't upgrade Studio One Artist to Professional because I really don't think I'll be working much with the program anyway. I've found the combination of Reaper and Reason, along with EZD2, is fantastic for me.
I already have a yearly subscription to the Groove3 website but I bought those videos so I can watch without being online. And they were half off. I'll be a Reaper Genius in no time. LOL.

i got me a mini router acting as a repeater so for the first time ever i can write this from my 'studio' pc.. bit scary. productivity is going to shoot down!
took an age to get all the networking services back on. (being almost old school now i have never had my main daw pc on the net. )
also ordered stripbus for a hoot.
most deals struck me as sh*t i really didn't need, i wanted them but i'd just be making the same good or bad decisions with the new toy instead of the old toy.
off topic but is there a mean lean anti virus that doesn't stomp all over audio performance. win7 ?

I can vouch for EZD2, and with that free pack it's a great buy. Being able to run it in standalone mode to make backing tracks for my songs is fantastic. And the amount you can edit is unlimited.....but it's easy (EZ).
Highly recommended.

I saw the price of $147 and so demoed Waves Gold, but decided against it. I've got some nice plugins that I think are doing the trick for me. I couldn't see myself using most of the plugins in that collection.
I did get another free IKMultimedia T-Tracks plugin as part of the group buy (four for the price of one so far! :-)).
I'm trying to remember how it was "back in the day" and many folks would have just a three band EQ, a fixed ratio compressor and maybe a plate reverb.
If I can't get a good sounding mix with the handful of compressors, EQs, channel strips, and reverbs that I already have then it's my skills that need improving; not my plugin collection.
One thing I am interested in, though, is something to emulate the analog sound I hear on my old favourite albums (without having to mix outside the box and spend silly money), so I bought Quinto's Roundtone (I think he's giving something away for Black Friday, but that's not why I bought it), and I'm hoping it will work well with StripBus that I already have.
Oh, and I bought a couple of MIDI loop packs from the Loop Loft.
I also bought a family fresh water for life through Compassion. That's $79 better spent on anything I might have bought just because it was on sale.
Good thing is I didn't have to leave the house :-)

Acustica Nebula -> http://www.acustica-audio.com/. It is not emulations, it is very advanced samplings of hardware. Nebula Pro is on sale right now for 15% off. Acustica also makes a line of VST plugins, known as Acqua, based on the same technology. This line boasts very functional UI's to go along with the incredible sound. Some of those are on sale as well. If you have a couple hours over the next couple days, poke around their website, read some forums, look at some products and ask some questions.
There is also CDSoundMaster, who amongst other things, is a Nebula third party developer and sells both Nebula programs and Acqua plugins from their site -> http://cdsoundmaster.com/site/cds-so...e/plugins.html. There are many third party developers, but I mention CDSM because of their Acqua plugins.
In the spirit of this thread, there are sales at both the above linked sites this weekend. So, you can come back here and talk about what you bought.

I got 2 Groove 3 videos.
I was damn close to getting the EZkeys Classis electrics as i'd get the uvi model D piano as well FREE, but i really don't think i'd use it that much and i can always get a friend to play any piano parts i can't play myself ( which is most of em )
I think i might get TB EBULoudness meter and Klanghelms DC8C compressor instead and the cost will be very similar, i don't know yet.
Cheers

A reminder about the hollow sun 20% off everything sale - Some really interesting and useful sounds there. I thought I had them all and discovered I didnt have the VE330 Roland-alike.
Some of his free or nearly free stuff is pretty cool, too.

Thanks for the offer but i'll have to pass as i don't own an ilok.
Good thing i decided against that purchase as i didn't realise the UVI piano needed an ilok, i wouldn't have been able to use it anyway.

It doesn't need a dongle. Just the free iLok account + the activation software from hell.
I can give you my iLok account with Eventide UltraChannel plugin in it:

LOL, thanks. It's easy to sell when you believe in the product. If I don't like something, I can't fake it.

Nothing. I'd have bought something from u-he and Image-Line, but neither had Black Friday sales (well, u-he doesn't do sales anyway, just intro prices and coupons).
Just as well! Tempted to get an Octatrack still, or Push (but whenever I try Live again, the UI is like a cold shower), though neither purchase would be very reasonable.

Nothing so far.
I've been thinking about NI Kontakt 5 and couple of their vintage compressors, but may postpone yet another year easily. I've been testing the VC 2A since I don't have anything really like LA2 here, but found out I had more fun with the tight snap of VC 160. Now I'm checking how far I could get with Major Tom instead.
---
edit: Ha, now it's over and not only did I get no new plugins or such, I also went thru my plugin folders and tossed out more of the old stuff from there. I did order bunch of picks, some accessories and things to make new cables. But no special sale there and that order has been pending for couple of weeks anyway.

A 2nd monitor - Dell U2412M - 24", 1920 x 1200.
So I can use Imperial theme (and everything else) more comfortably.
Been threatening to do this for awhile - couldn't pass up the Newegg deal.

RJ - I don't have mine yet. But I bought my wife this identical monitor for Christmas 2012 to work on her photo Projects (it was almost +$100 back then). And all I can say is ... Whoa. This thing's a beaut. However, your mileage may vary.
Check out the CNET review. I'm thinking that for "our" purposes, this should more than suffice (at least for the next 10 years, when we'll all have 3D DAW's).

I had been looking at a few Waves plugs, and saw them all in the Waves Gold Bundle, so I bit the bullet. Added Waves ADT to it also.

Btw Cheers for the net protection ideas chaps.
had to spend £30 getting the flaming machine on the net so not enamoured with forking further for protection as well, use avast on other machines and it fine, will see!
Had great fun doing vocal practice to YouTube karaoke videos..
Wonders of the internet.
Soo many Taylor swift songs to avoid, does she release one a week?

If any of you guys are interested in cloud storage, SpiderOak have a Cyber Monday deal coming up. 1TB for $129 a year, and the price won't go up. They have a no-knowledge policy in that they don't even know your filenames... and they're not in bed with Microsoft either ;-)
https://blog.spideroak.com/201411261...day-offer-2014
No - I have nothing to do with that company, other than being a happy customer.
...and on more directly audio related matters, the sknote Roundtone is fantastic! :-)

Taylor Swift ! Who ? Watched a video and something makes me think that
she is just another person attracting much attention without having any skills, musical skills ! Well, no! , she knows how to use lipstick and all this stuff and to show her legs off to advantage, well, maybe I am wrong, in case I am wrong, I am sorry for my wrong assumption, I only watched one Video and I do not feel like watching one more.

DSM v2. 99$ instead of 329$. One of the best plugs out there, especially for mastering. Waited a long time for a deal on this thing.

Yes, I have bought 2 second hand Waves plugins really cheaply but the WUP is a ripoff for a hobby user. I don't want to pay for updates each year. There should be a better life cycle on certain plugins than one year. It's fair enough maybe not dealing with personal support issues but bug fixes should be part of a plugins life cycle for at least a few years. I am unsure how this WUP stuff works anyway since waves always seem to release their entire catalog as a single installer with consolidated version numbering.
