Default Linking a plugin to a hot key to make it pop up?

Hi,

I always have Voxengo Span on my master channel (I bypass it during renders) and frequently check it whilst composing. Currently to check it during playback I need to open the mixer then click on the insert to open the plugin.

I wonder, is there a way to make Span simply pop up by linking it to a hot key, so I don't need to go through opening the mixer to locate it?

Thanks!

You can make a Custom Action, but it depends on which slot is located the plugin Voxengo Span in your Master Track.

Quote:
SWS: Select master track
Track: open/close UI for FX#1 on last touched track

Thank you for your response. Span is always the 1st plugin on the master channel. However I would need to touch the master channel before pressing the hot key. I work on large sessions, so this would involve a lot of scrolling.

Is there a way of making the 1st plug in on the master channel by pop up (at any time) by simply pressing one hot key?

Hello Zang and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information.

That's what perrolunar suggested: putting those 2 Actions into a Custom Action. Then you can assign a Keyboard Shortcut to that Custom Action. Yes, after pressing the shortcut the Master track will be selected. You might like to try these in a Custom Action:

Creating Custom Actions and assigning Keyboard Shortcuts are both described in the User Guide.

I am new to the program and was not aware of the existence of the action list. Apologies for my misunderstanding Perrolunar.

Thank you for this elegant solution.

Is it possible to make just Span pop up (without the white space allocated to the FX chain). I have a small monitor and need to conserve screen space.

Thank you for your help.

No problem. We all started somewhere and there is a lot of flexibility and power in Reaper. No-one knows it all

I think that this should do it:
In [Options] > Preferences > Plug-ins: set "Auto-float newly-created FX windows"

Also (but you probably know this), you can change SPAN's GUI size a bit, in its [Settings].
