Reaper 5 release

Hello,

I'm fairly new to reaper world, but love it a lot!
just wanted to ask when reaper 5 will be released, and how can I join the beta test.

I have done a lot of beta tests for other DAWS, and I am a software engineer myself.

any place to request to join the beta? any place to get news from reaper, like reaper fan blogs and things I should new...

You'll also want the latest sws extension http://sws.mj-s.com/download/pre-release/

I did a few search before posting, because I could not find a relevant topic,
only a topic from 2011...

maybe if you spent a lot of time in these forums, you know where things are, but someone new like me, couldn't find it...

go ahead do a search on reaper 5,
and see how unclear the results are...

Also there is no sticky title that seems like an intuitive choice.

anyway thanks for the pointers and help,
now I know a bit more.

They read "here"..... and search and read and search and search and read but to get the idea to click on "here" ....... do not get many well

I think the forum's default order (most recent first) is "helping" the confusion.

Go to the forum list, then go to REAPER Pre-Release Discussion

The top post in there is the most recent. To get to the "here" link one has to go to the last page (currently Page 107).

Not intuitive.

Plus, the sticky posts aren't at the top, either. They're hidden in the other posts. Which, to me, means they're not being treated as sticky at all.

That's odd. Here the stickies are at the top of each page of each subforum, including the one with the "here" link. I find the "here" link on page one (and any other page) of the pre-release discussion forum, in a sticky called "Reaper pre-release builds". It's the only post of that thread.

I don't understand what you mean by

I'm using Chrome on a Mac (Mavericks).

Yes sequence, please don't be put off by some slightly less than friendly responses. The Reaper forum I think is generally one of the most helpful and positive of all the forums around.

I felt a bit intimidated at first at the "hey dumb idiot don't you see the info right there !!"

but I do got the answer clear...

Something not mentioned is the release date.

I want to buy a license because I fell in love with reaper (looks, customizations,the extensions, built in plugs)

but I don't want to purchase now that is like version 4.77 , I rather wait till 5 is released to buy it...

do someone know when is that?

When a release is imminent, they sometimes extend the license to include the next release, at least I think that's what they did going into Reaper-4.

Heh heh, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I haven't seen anything mentioned yet.

If you purchase a license now, you will get version 5 as well:

There's only one version of REAPER. One complete, solid, full-featured digital audio workstation.

Your one-user, full-use license includes up to two major version numbers' worth of REAPER's famous frequent upgrades.

Purchasing a license now includes upgrades through REAPER 5.99.

REAPER 3.0 licenses purchased in 2009 are still valid for REAPER 4.x, and have seen over 100 free upgrades and counting.

Not sure i read anybody calling you a dumb idiot, they actually gave you a helpful response, use the search button, it is probably the most important thing in Reaper

Not only will the search button give you most answers here at the forum but searching the action screen in Reaper is an essential thing to do too when looking for a feature.
most of the other replies where just useless waffle.
Blah blah Evil Dragon - Waffle - as i pointed out search will be your best friend soon.
Blah blah PM - utter waffle - never PM somebody an answer if it can be posted in the forum, because posted in the forum it can be (wait for it) searched and then useful to future users too.

About buying Reaper, i would suggest just buying it now, you will probably get a grace period and if i remember correctly (may be wrong) Reaper had a small price rise at v4, so that may happen.
Either way i would suggest that v5 is just another release, there is little special about it, just buy in now and get on with making music
