the "reaparts" or amalgamation, or whatever it's called, is a featre i dearly miss from logic days, and i'd love to see that over any other major feature.

Default Stability

I've been having so many crashes since V3, I ended up going back to Cubase.
Instead of all the new gismos, I would prefer to have a stable program to work with. The other thing is, that with all the new stuff coming out all the time, readjusting preferences and learning new actions, seems to take more time away from making music. So maybe updates every six months would be better
(providing their stable) then every two weeks, which are mere beta trials.

Sorry to hear it keys61.

It really is the case that crashes are often to do with a specific plugin's relationship with REAPER and when reported to Cockos there is normally a solution provided pretty quickly. Other times an audio interface driver can have quirks that lead to crashes.

It's refreshing to see a post about problems that isn't a rant so please don't take it the wrong way if I say.. you don't have to install each and every update. On the other hand I appreciate you may have been hoping that things would suddenly work better with a new version.

You may have tried or been through all this in another thread so sorry if that didn't work out, but otherwise it would be beneficial to everyone to know more about the crash messages etc and try to get it resolved - I'm assuming you'd like to be able to work with REAPER again otherwise you wouldn't be reading the forums!

Needing to learn new actions should only happen when you want to use new functionality. It should be the case that you can use v3 like v2 if you wish.

Also I'd be interested to know which preferences you needed to readjust?

Hope we can get things sorted and have you back using REAPER!

Found this in the guide

Copy item, pooling MIDI source data >> Shift Ctrl and Alt drag and drop.

16.22 Moving and Copying Envelopes with Items
You can choose whether or not to move and copy
automation envelopes with media items by setting the
option to Move envelope points with media
items on or off. This is accessed by right clicking on
the Envelope tool on the main REAPER toolbar, or by
choosing Envelope points from REAPER's Options
menu. You can use the Actions editor to assign a
shortcut key to toggle this action on and off.
 If this option is turned off, then envelopes will not be moved
or copied with the media items.
 If this option is turned on, then the envelopes will be moved
or copied with the media items.
An example of this is illustrated on the right. A selected portion of
the media item on the top track is being copied to the track below it
using the Ctrl drag and drop method.
You can also specify whether or not you want to Add edge points
(new envelope points at the start and end of the time selection)
when the item is being moved or copied.

Am I confusing different thing?

Hmm as bluzkat says nearly a 6 years old post, so I wondered what I'd wrote way back then.

http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...&postcount=141

Aaaah ~ of course I wrote about the ability of Reaper to read / write (understand) session files from other DAW's.
[Precis; Vegas EDL (txt) and Samplitude /Sequoia EDL: Reaper implementation of these was & remains unaltered as V basic, with errors and not good.

This was in the early days of me working with 'Runaway' ~ my partner Michael on our software, AATranslator. To try and offer software to help ~ sort out the reluctance of most DAW / NLE makers to include more than rubbish ~ token ~ session interchange capabilities.
