How do I get overlapping audio on the same track to play?

How do I get overlapping audio on the same track to all play?

I thought have "play all takes " did it for me once but that seems to not be working now.

I think you should be able to split the area they overlap, then select the split items and implode as takes, and in item properties check 'play all takes'...well, until there's a better option.
