Default Moving Loop Boundary with Shortcuts is Impossible LIVE

Defining loop boundaries with Action shortcuts is very very difficult/impossible.

We can halve or double the loop length or we can manipulate the edit cursor and then set a loop start/end point (and even that has a confirmed serious bug).

But howabout letting us
Move edit cursor to start of loop
or
Move edit cursor to end of loop

There is no easy way to easily get around the above two missing actions.

To really be thorough could we please also have as many loop actions as we do selection actions? (although admittedly we can set "Loop points linked to time selection"

What about the actions:

Go to start of loop
Go to end of loop

Is that any good?

"Go to" actions refer to the play cursor.
So unfortunately the above is useless in a live performance situation becuse we need the edit cursor to move, not the play cursor.

A workaround macro using markers is also unworkable because they are also "go to" actions (ie play cursor not edit cursor).

I do not understand why every play cursor action does not have an equivalent edit cursor action.

Another workaround may have involved
Options: Move edit cursor to start of time selection, when time selection changes
but it is only an action to turn the option on. It does not toggle and there is no action for turning it off.

Reaper is hopeless for live looping techno (which all I want to use it for). Here are the other looping bugs I have personally found in my first month...If the audio functionality is just as bad then I cannot understand why the whole project is not still in Beta mode.

There is an action to memorise the play cursor position. This means that if you run this first you can execute whatever clever macro action you want, and as the very last step you restore the play cursor to its original position.

I have a couple of Mmacros that use this. I think they are simply called SWS:Store cursor position and SWS:restore cursor position.

If you haven't installed the SWS extensions, you will need to do so to use these actions.

i think you mean edit cursor yes? Edit cursor is the line with the down arrow when sitting still and play is the line that moves during play is my understanding.

Thanks for trying, but both of you are misunderstanding the issue. I'll repeat what I said to gridlove.

Unless, as Coachz suggests, planetnine really did mean the edit cursor? I'll have to look into these extensions planetnine mentioned. Maybe the perfect solution lies there.

Default Q&A vs FeatureRequest vs Tracker

Forum noob question:

So is the next step to make a feature request?
I have done so but am not sure if I should have opened a report in REAPER Issue Tracker?

Should the tracker be done instead-of or as-well-as the feature request?

Here 's a bunch of python scripts to move the edit cursor to loop start/end position, as well as to time selection start/end position: https://stash.reaper.fm/v/12032/move_...tion_edges.zip

and these two scripts move the loop start/end to the edit cursor position: https://stash.reaper.fm/v/12037/Move%...t%20cursor.zip

The issue tracker ticket should be done as well as a discussion thread in the FR forum (likewise for bug reports). Link each one to the other.

Appears that you created it as a bug report in the tracker, was that intentionally?
