Devs- OSC projections?
With the discussion of OSC support (iirc schwa projected early-ish v4) I'm surprised there's relatively little buzz about it. Even though it's obviously not mature enough to make the alpha just yet, I'm wondering if there is anything about its basic functional implementation that can be revealed at this point. I'm at an impasse on a project without knowing more.
The main thing I'll need to know is whether fx parameter messages will be able to be routed to user-assigned locations without first sending a 'hello' message from the control (as opposed to what is currently in place with the right click->'learn' function for midi). Any insight on the packet structure and content of such a message would be awesome as well. Really, any insight at all on the OSC situation would make my week! Thanks for all your hard work.

I am also absurdly excited for OSC integration! I cant wait to hear more about how it will work. I think it will open doors to amazing new creative uses for Reaper. Hopefully we will hear more soon!!

I think schwa said something about OSC implementation around R4.1-ish...

Just wanted to look up if OSC is already integrated, can't wait for it to come and my iPod too.
@benf: OSC = Open Sound Control , gives you the possibility to control reaper e.g. with your iPhone and an App via WiFi

What I am most interested in is if I will be able to use as OSC sequencer and use it to control other OSC enabled software (like digital performer, ardour, reaktor, renoise, resolume, max/msp, pd, supercolider, csound, chuck etc.)
What is missing in the world of OSC software atm. is a proper sequencer with graphical envelopes, and I would love to see Reaper becoming the first one. I bet many people (and institutions) would buy it just for this functionality.

Is there a feature request for this? It's a pretty tall order, but still... I'm surprised that no one has done it yet. As far as i know, there's currently no DAW that can even record osc, yet alone draw automation.
I know it's only a matter of time before DAWs start adding support. I'd love to see Reaper be the first!

it sure would be great to be on the bleeding edge of something. Reaper, for me, has felt like its been playing catch-up to the usual DAWs since V1. It would be great to get this for v4

I am still waiting for the TSC or THought Sound Control.
Till now I just can move the volume sliders with my thought. Think the problem lies near the ultra-high frequencies where Thought is.

Isn't OSC supposed to replace Midi? Midi should have died long ago, it's about time.

MBN - I can never tell if your serious about the glove.
Pretty excited here about the possibility of OSC incorporation and how that will mix with the JS developers.
I am yet to get a multitouch device but I am pretty sure that soon after Reaper begins taking messages from them it will be hard to resist.
MIDI is pretty much a natural element now, all we can to is work with it.

Our plans are the same, to implement OSC early in the v4 series. Please remember that the v4 series has not yet begun, 4.0 is still in the alpha stage.

yes please!
+1 I would love to controll all manner of robots, other sound software general mischief from reaper. With the recent giant leaps in surround capabilities this would further establish reaper as the weapon of choice for adventure!

might end up with some interesting hardware options with support from a popular software maker, which i think would help further solidify the legitimacy of osc. just saying, though (N)ot (D)efinitively (A)nswering...

Great to hear it is planned!
I would suggest implementing OSC support in a wider context of better fleshed out features for setting up remote control, were one could edit and would have an overview of all remote control mappings (compare Cubase, Ableton Live), set up different types (e.g. increment/decrement, toggle/momentary, continuous/scaled etc.), and set up feedback so that changes made in Reaper (e.g. GUI, automation, output) are reflected back to the remote controllers.

Ehm, I guess you have not tried Numerology 3 Pro yet then? Not your typical DAW by any standard, but by my definition of "proper sequencer", it is pretty much the only piece of software that qualifies for the title. And, it does have OSC support and graphical envelopes (plain AHDSR ones, but also the ModulationSeq module which offers 128-step graphical envelopes). If you run OS X, give it a try (otherwise, maybe hackint0sh or getamac? ). A proper sequencer is a great complement to any DAW, including Reaper.
