Default Adding silence to an item

Quick question and I feel I should know this really...I have an item I want to add silence to at the end.
Currently I "Insert empty item" and glue. It works fine but seems a bit clunky compared to my preferred editor Audition. Is there a better way?

There is an easier way. Double click the item, turn off 'loop source', and drag the end out.

You could assign turning off loop source to a toolbar button to speed it up if you wanted.

I get the idea.. I like things to line up. Before you say it, yes I wish the indent and white line weren't there either. :P

Second option, involving glueing:

Make a time selection around the item (must meet or extend past the item bounds) and glue. It will take on the size of the time selection. I use this a lot to make items the same size as the regions they are in, for example, by double clicking the region which makes a time selection of that size.

In this instance I wanted to create space to stretch an item.

And Fergler thanks - I had forgotten the Loop source option needed turning off.

Problem solved.

Not entirely the same but i often use a great script from me2beats:
"Script: me2beats_Trim sel items edges to nearest grid divisions (increase items length).lua"

Advantage of this Script is that it doesn't do glueing.
I find the glueing solution abit cumbersome cause it creates a new Item, which i don't prefer.
Ok, so this doesnt work with a Time Selection, but works "grid based".
Maybe me2beats could make another version of the script that works with a Time Selection :0)
