Default Moving audio file locations

Hi! I have a pretty quick question--I recently tracked some piano, and everything went really well (I'm new to Reaper but very much like it so far!) except for the fact that I had forgotten that I set the recording location to my Desktop. Now there's a field of audio files on my desktop (I know it's my fault) and I'm wondering if there's some way I can move all of the files somewhere better without Reaper losing track of them. Any ideas?

Also, on a similar topic, where do you guys keep your tracked audio files on your hard drive? I'm not sure of where to put them.

First alternative: Move those files to a folder of your choice.
The next time you start your project Reaper tells you that it can't find some missing files.
Then you get some options to search them.

2nd and better (IMO) alternative: Save the project as...with the option set to "Move all project media into project directory"
(And if you wish check "Create subdirectory for project")

Perfect! I wasn't even sure if such a feature existed, but this does exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you very much!

All good advice.

Another thing to get familiar with is REAPER's management tool, the project bay. This will let you see all the source files in the project with their paths, and the option to copynor move any or all of them to a new location with REAPER keeping track of them in the project.

Please (and you'll thank me later!)... create a folder for each and every project you create in Reaper. Keep them in another folder called 'Reaper Projects' and life will be good.

And you will always be able to find your files!

Yes!!

Keep disciplined, stay organised. A bit of "housekeeping" will preserve your sanity.

And back it up!
