Default Can't render below 22050 Hz

If I render an project at below 22050 Hz, the output is just noise (sounds like a fax machine transmitting).

This affects rendering at 16000, 11025, or 8000 hz. The other settings, including online/offline, resample mode, output format, and bit depth don't seem to make any difference in this case.

At 22050 Hz or above, the project seems to render normally

I had the same problem with the last beta I tried (probably 3beta5, I think). I have not tried this in 2.x

Project is audio only (no midi), with some fx

UPDATE: This problem only seems to occur with JS: SStilwell/Exciter FX enabled

May I please request this fixed for the big release:


Zoom in on a waveform....way in...say just before sample level.

Cut a sliver out...something very small....say a click or a "smack".

Now CTRL+Right Click and Drag over something that looks like it might replace that piece in an edit.

Now CTRL+Left Click and Drag that selection over to the prospective place.

You'll notice Reaper takes a MUCH larger chunk than you have asked it to.


Pretty please with sugar on top, guys?
It may not be a NEW bug, but I know it's an important one for at least a handful of folks around here.

Default Midi Clip Dot

Guys, I'm not sure what this is but it has already happened on two of my projects twice where there is a dot or a stroke showing a note in the clip which actually isn't there when you open the ME.

You could see that when viewing it in the ME's "Mode: event list"

Check the event list in the ME for stray CC messages. Sometimes slightly intermittent controller knobs and wheels insert a CC message when rocking the keyboard hard.

New for beta8: FIXED in Beta 9

The action 'Track: Toggle record arm for selected track(s)' is broken. It toggles on and off (resp. off and on) when run once, as if it was run twice.

Receipt is easy:
Just have a track and run that action

Watch your track toggling into armed mode and immediately back to unarmed.



Shall I really report all of the unresolved bugs again although those I reported are nicely collected in DarkStar's bug status thread? YES!

There's still a mess with Note ON's and OFF's when MIDI notes are overlapping:
- Add two long overlapping notes
- Do something, for example humanize or quantize
- Undo to the previous state

Doing that you never get back the original notes when you undo.

And last but not least, the Waves plugins still doesn't work with Automap. Now there is only one copy of each one but it is the "Not automaped" version of the plugin.

An ATI Radeon mobility x600 set at 1024x768, or lower(?!), looses the vertical scrollbar in the midi editor. Seems to be fine at higher resolutions.
Again in the midi editor toggling between item time and project time is broken, the timeline only displays the proect's bars/beats count.
I'm sure that when I hovered the mouse over the midi editor's scrollbar and rolled the mousewheel, it scrolled (same as the main window). Now it zooms.

CMD + Mouse Click Drag on faders, no longer does the Fine Adjustment it did previously, does a normal coarse adjustment.

By the way this crazy text behaviour is still happening in the mixer, which goes away when u reload the project. Devs still haven't found that cockroach. Justin, this time, don't clean your desk from coffee stains or doughnut crumbs, coz we need that bug processed.

Yes. Reaper is very buggy with my emu 0404 usb too. Every 20-30 min I have crashes. It's looks like Reaper have some bugs when it working with memory. Because I haven't all these bugs in other hosts.

Nope, not here (but it wasn't broken for me). It was working fine in beta 7. My Horizontal Zoom centre is "Mouse cursor" but in the MIDI Editor the notes walk across the window if I repeatedly mouse-scroll up/down/up/down. Here I have just mouse-scrolled up a few clicks then down the same number of clicks (so I should be back where I was).

Default Ripple editing and Tempo Changes

Just drag the midi item forward by 1 bar. The subsequent markers will move forward more than a bar.

It looks like they end up where the next bar would have been had we not ripple edited the tempo marker forward one barsworth!

Here is the consolidated list of bugs I reported and yet not fixed (congrats, Cockos, most of mine are already off the list ):


b) MIDI editor: drag left item border to right shifts note start. This shouldn't happen. Dragging the item start to a point after note on should stop the note from sounding entirely.

g) Inline MIDI editor: Hard to explain:

I have all "seek playback" preferences unticked.

- have a MIDI inline editor open for an item

- start playback

- left-click in the notes area, somewhere above the height of the tcp's level meter.
- result: Playback will jump to the edit cursor.

- left-click again in the notes area, this time somewhere below the height of the tcp's level meter.
- result: Playback will not seek to the edit cursor.

- Repeat at will.

expected: no seek, as that's my preference.

This is not new to Beta 8, but really should be fixed before the version 3 release. Many ReaFX do not display the proper pan graphics.

Default tempo markers need love too

(note: fixed in beta 9 or 10)
  1. New project, Beats (Position Only).
  2. Shift-C at time-0 & add a 90bpm tempo change.
  3. Actually adds two tempo changes, 120 & 90.
  4. No tempo is displayed next to them.
  5. The 120 is on top of the 90

If I drag out the "90" I think I just added, I actually end up pulling out the "120".

Ah, there's more...

Every single tempo change I add, anywhere in a new project, adds an extra "120" (project tempo) back at time=0.

Default bad tempo marker! get back in your bar!

  1. New project
  2. Add 90bpm at bar 2.1
  3. In the transport, change project tempo to 60bpm - has no effect
  4. Add 120bpm at 3.1
  5. All tempo markers jump into the previous bar. The 90 goes to 1.3 and the 120 actually gets added to 2.3

Go to Track Recording Settings, select Quantize to 1/48, close it, reopen the same again and u get 1/32T instead.
Why, why, why is this happening to me Ma? What did I do to them in my past life to deserve this?

Default MIDI issues

Some MIDI issues with beta 8:

- Sound disappears during playback at certain points (one MIDI track playing through a VSTi), playback continues but there is no sound coming from the track anymore for the rest of the playback. The sound seems to always disappear at a tempo/time signature marker and always at the same ones. In this particular case, the problem seems to occur only with small ASIO buffers (32-64 samples). The same project works fine in beta 7 with the smallest ASIO buffer.

- Empty project, insert MIDI file w/ tempo map at bar 2. "Merge source tempo map to project tempo map at 2.1.00" -- expecting the MIDI file to be pasted at 2.1.00 accompanied by a tempo marker, but instead the MIDI object & tempo change appear at 2.4.46, all the time sig changes are messed up, Reaper "skips" whole bars during playback (see more about this in the next paragraph) etc. If I put a tempo marker at the beginning of the project before inserting the MIDI object, things work as expected, so it seems like the MIDI file tempo map is affecting things before 2.1.00 after all. I assumed project tempo works like an invisible tempo marker at the beginning of the project, but apparently not. Is this intended behavior? Threw me off.

- If I insert a MIDI file w/ a tempo map in the middle of a bar -- say, at 1.3.00 instead of 1.1.00 -- (some) time signature changes for the MIDI clip are messed up. Like in the previous case, Reaper sometimes "skips" whole bars of playback at time signature markers -- the cursor just jumps to the next bar without playing any notes, or sometimes there's a bunch of notes clustered on top of each other etc. So in effect, the inserted MIDI clip is flawed and unusable. Perhaps this is intended behavior as well, you are only supposed to insert MIDI files at the exact start of a bar? Of course, I can always use a time signature marker to shorten the bar before the intended MIDI insert to suit my needs, but maybe it would make sense to add some sort of automatic time signature marker/adaptation for the bar of/before the inserted MIDI clip to avoid serious timing glitches for the rest of the project (which the user might not realize until later on, when it's too late to undo).

I thought I'd repost this bug report.I've attached a simple .RPP to show this strange midi behaviour.I find I can't monitor it within REAPER and use MidiOx for this.(choose e.g. midiyoke1 as a midi output from REAPER and midiyoke1 as input to MidiOx.)

In reference to http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=35347 I thought I'd post this here aswell.

When using ReaControlMidi if you change the midi volume [(cc7) or in the case of ReaControlMidi cc7+cc27]at some point in time,after,at sequencer stop and start,Reaper sends xB0 07 00 i.e. midi volume = 0. I say Reaper because if you disable the cc messages or the whole plugin (ReaControlMidi) or remove it Reaper continues to send this message.This only seems to happen if you change the midi volume at some point in time.It also looks like it happens with midi pan (cc10)and maybe with other cc's too.Strange?

I decided to check the Reaper midi output in MidiOx.I have not tested all the possible permutations of this yet and have not been regularly testing the Reaper alphas and betas,so I don't know if this is new or not.It can be worked around at the moment by putting JS fx like Midi volume https://stash.reaper.fm/v/1658/MIDI_VOLUME etc,in place.Reaper still sends the midi volume=0 message but sends the JS fx data immediately afterwards.

Horizontal zoom is still wrong for me where I have center on edit cursor behaviour selected.

It also now seems to behave wrongly in the midi editor - which is odd because the changelog has that behaviour as fixed.

Ok, I think I spotted a bug unless I'm missing something...eh eh eh

Steps to reproduce:

1.Insert new track
2.Right Click automation icon choose for instance "volume"
3.Envelope for volume comes up. Draw some stuff
4.Set Global automation "Read(Play faders with armed envelopes" in transport panel
5.Test if envelope does what you meant it to do
6.Go to "X" icon in envelope panel and chose "Hide envelope"
7.Test again. If hidden, with Global Automation override mode on the envelope will have no effect.

Is this by design or a bug?

BTW Beta8 here.

just a glitch

(default new project with default snap settings)

it is possible to create very thin midi items when using the pencil tool and drag it onto the beginning of the item. Similarly if you resize an item onto itself. In my opinion, with the snap settings on, the minimum item size should not be reduced to less than the minimum snap size. Or, make the thin items significantly larger so that they can be noticeable and resizable without further zooming. Creating such thin items with the snap + zoom settings involved would almost always be an undesirable outcome.

Also, a long standing nitpick that should be addressed (or me corrected) for consistency: a new midi item is currently called "untitled MIDI event", shouldn't it be item?

In theme color settings, "Media item background (odd tracks)" actually affects the even tracks and "Media item background (even tracks)" the odd tracks.

Default BFD2 and UAD Neve 88RS

Loading the UAD Neve 88RS on any track with BFD2 in the project instantly crashes the Reaper beta causing it to close - on my Win XP SP3 system anyway.

Both plug-ins are the most recent builds.

Three instances of golden gate open and the play (space) doesn't work no matter where you click on the session.

This could be to do with golden gate as it has "annoying message" that pops up till you buy it.

Selecting all tracks in mixer or edit view wasn't let me switch fipm on or off all the time, it would work randomly.

There were a few other little things but I can't remember as been I've just finished a 12 hours session.
