Default New gear, need some opinions, please

Seems like I will be able to finally buy some semi-serious DAW hardware. I would like to hear some opinions about it. Any help/info much appreciated.

Laptop: ADK 7600-i7 (i7 640M, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Siig FireWire 2-Port ExpressCard2, etc.) - $1681

Audio interface: Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 - $230

Monitors: M-Audio Studiophile BX8a - $355

Mics: Shure SM57 - $99
Shure SM58S - $104

How does all this sound? Any problems with Windows 7 64-bit?

Does anyone have any experience with ADK laptops? Do they ship their stuff outside USA? Their website has no clear info about shipping.

Thanks in advance.

Thats more or less a "live" vocal mic although im sure thousands have used it before for studio use... There are quite a few good studio quality mics for the 99-300 $ range US dont know what your budget is?

Also any reason for a laptop Vs desktop? For the $$$ you gonna blow on that laptop a custom desktop build might be sweet?

I'm gonna be away for some time, so laptop is the only option. Btw, this ADK is a custom made laptop for audio use (or so they advertise it ).

58 and 57 are pretty much the same thing, just a different pop filter thing on em. Def wouldn't use that for recording vocals, depends on what your voice needs and what eq correction needs to be done to your vocals.

I'm very satisfied with my Audio Technica AT2020. It's a great mic in this price range.

Thanks! It's even cheaper - $69.

Probably a lot of Autotune as well!
