Hey, that's very nice! There's a color washing effect reminiscent of old 60s photographs.
Once I saw the word "flat", I was instantly drawn. I agree that 3D gets much attention, and 2D has been left over despite having certain graphic advantages.

I like the labels and don't care if they are hacky. Unless of course they can be just like that and not hacky.

Good idea - but definitely not enough contrast there.

Yeah, contrast really may become the problem of this, but in the example where you selected tracks, it got darker.. so maybe default track colour would be the darker gray and selected are the white ones?
I'm using reaction, but even that seems too much info for my eyes, so this one here may promise something good

Not nearly enough contrast imo. No way I could look at that all day.
Design wise, looks nice and functional tho.

Great idea!
But I definitely agree with the too low contrast comments.
A touch of dark gray and black at the strategic places and you're on your way.

I'm really digging the track label placement with the color strip at the very bottom. Whatever you do, please do not make the meters green/yellow/orange/red.

Understood. Since this theme will be a refreshing change of pace, it would be nice to see "not so standard" colors i.e. Bender's Focus theme. The blue gradient meters was a nice touch to such a monochrome theme that it was. Splashes of color seems to always work in colorless settings. The Flat theme is still in development, so I'll sit back and see where you take it. Great job so far.

Nice job

Very neat looking! I absolutely love simplistic aspect of it - no fake shadow, no fake 3D, no fake realism.
My opinion: the colored the buttons and meters are too saturated, it would look better if they where "greyed" slightly. Currently, they show too much contrast in the overall look of the theme. It would be easier to the eye.

I think you should just keep going and do what you want and what you like. I love how it looks in the screenshots. Don't listen to anyone. they can mod your theme later if they want something different.

the dark version is much better I think. look forward to a final version.
may you can shadowing the fadercaps with a soft, but hard edged shadow too?
I think this will help a bit to see whats going on.

Nice work! I really like this approach. There are some other themes similar to this by Lamda but I just couldn't use them as I found the weren't as intuitive and were missing some important elements (such as i/o boxes). Would love to see some layouts with slightly bigger meters and smaller faders, but you should obviously do what works for you.

Reaper *sorely* needs more themes like this, I'm totally fed up with the bulky faux 3D everyone seems to be raving about. They look good as forum screenshots but in actual use I find them horrible.
Personal wish: Choose extra colors wisely and absolutely use low contrast on those. If most of the theme is low-contrast single color then any "normal" saturated color like green, blue or red is going to jump out like crazy. Even now I think the greens/yellows on the meters could be a bit subdued (prefer the latest screenshot!).
Very much looking forward to this!
