Bias fx plugin too loud and clipping. How to reduce or use a limiter?
I have been liking bias fx and the tones i have made with it. I use it in reaper and it sounds great until i play heavy and i get clipping and low end fuzz. I was told to use a limiter but i cant figure out any configuration to work or what limiter to use. Im still learning reaper and daw features but i have basic knowledge. Any advice would be appreciated. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi and welcome to the forums.
What are you using as your audio/MIDI interface?
The quick and dirty answer temporarily is to cut the volume control on your guitar back so it doesnt clip on the loud bits.
I assume you already downloaded th free User Guide from on here & watched some if not all the free video tutorials.
If you check out one of the early sections of the manual on setting your computer etc up for multitrack recording it will help you to understand how to gain stage correctly.
Have fun!

Unless the clipping is happening on the way in, like if the guitar signal is too hot.
Which sounds like the problem here.

late sorry
So sorry for being late on this reply. Life can be a handful at times
Yes my guitar signal is very hot due to my pickups. I was on the road and using a rocksmith cable with asio4all and it was clipping due to it not having a gain nob. Normally I use a scarlett 2i2 and can turn the gain down to reduce clipping with chugs, so with that i don't really need a limiter. Also Bias is turned down all the way in the control section. The reason I was asking about a limiter is because my audio professor recommended using one and I was looking for help finding one a good one or using the stock ones effectively. But even with the gain turned down on my scarlett interface I still get a little push sound on the low end with chugs, I was thinking it might be the noise gate but im not sure. Any ideas?
And yes I am very new to reaper and I am also learning pro tools. They are very useful and I love it. I still need to view the reaper guide and more into videos.
Thanks guys!

You may indeed be clipping at input, and with no volume knob on your guitar you may need a pad/attenuator before going to the interface, like this one i.e.:

It sucks big time if this is the case.

Just with my on the go interface/cord with my Scarlett there's a gain nob and I can turn down my hot pickups. But there's still a little of that push

If you turn that knob all the way down, and play your guitar dry into the interface and to a reaper track, is it completely silent? If not, where does it peak (how mch dB headroom is left)?
