Default Alesis Multimix 8USBFX

I am trying to use an Alesis Multimix 8USBFX mixing desk with Reaper. The mixer is connected by USB to my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.8) and in preferences - audio - devices - Reaper can see the USB Audio Codec, but there are no channels to choose from. I just need to select a channel from the mixer to record to a specific track on Reaper. Can anyone help?

Cudos for giving us the correct model. The problem with Alesis is that they use the same name over and over.

And, as in this case, they call this mixer a "complete recording solution". Then they go on to mask it's deficiencies by stating it can record a "stereo channel"...

The interface part of this mixer can only send two channels to your computer and it can only get two channels back from your computer. That's why you can't select channels.

What USB version do you have? I thought if you have USB3, the MultiMix can give you the 8 channels. I was under the impression that USB2 was the issue - can't do it.

I honestly don't know. My MultiMix8 is firewire.

That is one of the few that are multichannel. There's at least one other one, but not this one - I checked alesis.com...

Guess I made a lucky guess on that one. It was just before they stopped making it.
