Default Overdub settings.

Hello.. I'm new to the boards. I have a very small question as I've been racking my brain for hours trying to figure out why my instrumental track is overdubbing onto my vocal track when trying to record...? I've gone from reaper to audacity and it does this in both places. In audacity I can toggle the overdub setting. I can't even find it in reaper and am not sure as to rather that would even solve the problem. Thank for your advice. I hope to make your acquaintances.

Are you using any hardware? It sounds like you have a send from instrument channel to vox channel but it's weird that it's doing it in 2 sperate programmes, unless you are recording through an interface with separate channels and the send is on that....

Thanks Itch... Man, I had the settings in the control panel messed up... I had it on stereo as well as mic. So it'd record me as anything my computer played... Because It was happening in both I should've figured it out... SMH! Thanks man!
