Default Timeline Help

Hey Guys

New to the world of reaper, I am used to the pro tools timeline and how you scroll left or right with your mouse wheel to different sections of the song, in reaper it either makes the screen larger or smaller (timeline) how can I set it so reaper allows me to just scrolling horizontally?

You need to check out Reaper actions (menu "Action List" press '?')

In there you will find an action that reads something like (I don't have reaper in front of me atm):

View: scroll horizontally (MIDI CC: relative mousewheel)

Select that action
Select 'Main' for the section (top right)
Click the Add button
Click the Special Keys button
Move the mousewheel
Click OK.

You'll get a message saying that the mousewheel is already assigned (to horizontal zoom) and do you want to overwrite it.

Click Yes and you're done.

If you use the MIDI editor then you'll then need to repeat the above exercise but select the section 'MIDI editor'
