Default Arpeggiator not sequencing the same way as old file, help!

[update] the songs renders correctly. but doesn't play correctly when editing.[update]

I wanted to look at an old mix I did last year and the stock Reaper Sequencer isn't behaving the same way as the wav file I made from it.

It's like the arpeggiator is off by a note or so. Or it's starting on the wrong note and making it out of order.

Not sure how to fix it to make it arpeggiate the same way as it used to.

I figured that the arpeggiator is starting on the wrong note, but what could have shifted everything and how can I fix it?

It's not just 1 project. I check a couple of old projects that have a few arpeggiator sequences and they're off too.

Here's what the right arpeggiation sounds like next to how it plays now. Very different.

It sounds like you may have turned on key snap by mistake? It hasn't just shifted all notes, it has changed the intervals between the notes.

How did you programme the arpeggios?

I just wrote some chords in the piano roll and used the reaper arpeggiator

how do you change keysnap settings?

There's a little check box at the bottom of the midi piano roll window.

Okay, it didn't change the behavior of the arpeggiator. Do you know how the arpeggiator selects the notes it does? It seems dependent on when it hits the chord. Like can make an empty track and place a chord on the timeline and move the chord and the arpeggiator chooses the notes based on where I place the chord on the timeline.

That could mean that the reaper is telling the arpeggiator to start at a different time than I originally composed it. Maybe there's a clock setting for midi that I'm not aware of.

Sorry, I've not used the arpeggiator and I'm literally just about to leave the house for a week so I can't check it out.

Hopefully someone else can chime in!

Neither the "Reaper Sequencer" or "Reaper Arpeggiator" exist in my system. Are you perhaps talking about the JS:MIDI Arpeggiator or is it something else ? What settings are you using ?

Yeah, it's JS: MIDI Arpeggiator that comes with REAPER. Here's a picture of one of the settings. I use it in a lot of songs with different settings and now they all seem to have shifted somehow.

My only solution was to slow my reference wav file down to 10 BPM and pick out every individual arpeggiated note and write a new track from scratch without the arpeggiator.

The i/o buffer does make a difference when the arpeggiator is triggered.

Not going to rely on an arpeggiator going forward. Maybe I should look for something more stable.

If you follow the instructions in this video, you can insert arpeggios into the midi editor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Enrx5vbA6k
