Default Reaper freezed and I am stuck in full screen mode

After installing the latest 5.3.5 upgrade my computer shut down 2 times while working in Reaper.
Now Reaper freezes and I am on the Reapers full screen mode so I am not able to quit the session. What to do?

Oh it is ok now after I have waited for about 5 minutes while I was writing the question on my phone.

Is 5.3.5 buggy as this?

You are on Windows? Strg-Shift-Esc brings up the task manager and you can kill the process there.

No, I am on Mac. I forced quit the program and got back to 5.3.4. No problems hence.

What OS are you using? I've had no problems on El Capitan. Did you keep the crash log after force-quitting?

You mean your computer shutted itself completely off ?
That's quite bad and in my experience, that has nothing to do with Reaper.
Worst case scenario would be some hardware failure in your computer.

+1

A Mac shutting down all by itself, means power or temperature problems.

A crash can cause a heat buildup, but it is extremely rare. And if the shutdown occurs immediately after the crash, it is very likely REAPER is crashing because of the emergency hardware shutdown.

OSX doesn't shut down your computer like that. Your computer shut itself down, to prevent hardware damage.

If this is a recent MB Pro, the first guess is lack of heat compound between CPU and cooler.

The first thing to try, is an SMC reset, IMHO.

No, I've never had a problem with keychain. How do you know it's an OS specific problem?

Do you have the first aid option in your keychain preferences? Have you tried this (make sure to back-up if you're going to try it! Don't hold me responsible if it goes horribly wrong! ): http://archive.techarp.com/showartic...tno=801&pgno=0

It sounds like Finder froze for a few minutes, so they were stuck in fullscreen REAPER.

I've seen SMC related behavior like this on the retina Macbooks. Shutting down as though the battery had a bad cell when you do anything to draw higher levels of power (eg. Just kicked in HD graphics.) Resetting SMC fixes it.

The OP's Mac was freezing, and eventually unfreezing, not shutting down. Not that the information above won't be helpful to someone, just trying to keep the thread clear about what's happening.

I am now on 5.3.5 a week already without any problems.
It must have been some other problem non related to Reaper.
