Default Keeping AUi and VSTi CPU load down

Hey all! I thought I'd ask the Mac users if there's a simple way to keep the CPU load down from AUi's and VST's. I have a couple projects that are very AUi-heavy, but I'm pretty much set and forget with my synth sounds, so is there a way to freeze the instruments so that they don't load down my computer as much?

Have a look at these links:

- Chapter 6.21 'Freezing and Unfreezing Tracks' in the User Guide: http://www.reaper.fm/userguide.php
- Freeze Tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjsZWUpXHRA

And if you want to commit and render some tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0go48h_LM8
