Default Double Screen Focus Issue

So I have this weird issue. Shortly, pressing Escape button to close floating windows takes focus to the window on my secondary monitor, instead of the Arrange view on my primary monitor, as it should.

Here's the longer version: I've recently started using an external screen with my Macbook Pro. Now, I have the arrange window on the external screen (primary screen), and on my Macbook screen (secondary screen), there is either Media Explorer or Video window.

Whenever I have a floating window open, such as an FX, if I press Escape to close it, the focus shifts to the window on the Macbook screen. The expected behavior should be focusing back to arrange window. Pretty annoying.

Any solutions?

Wild guess:

There used to be (still is?) a bug with window focus on multiple screens/spaces. The workaround was to turn off tool tips in preferences.
Try that.

Update on the issue: it seems that pressing escape forces Reaper to focus on whatever screen there is on my Macbook's screen, even though my second screen is set to primary in Mac's display settings. AND, this ONLY happens if the Reaper is set to Full Screen mode.
