Default Record mode: auto-punch selected items - NOT WORKING?

The above record mode does not work for me, for some reason.

E.g., I record a take or two, then split a little section in the middle of that recording, select the newly split selection, rewind and hit record (with the mode in question engaged) - but it just records a whole new take which is audible for the duration of the new recording, instead of just replacing the one little item. Am I missing something?

Record mode: time selection auto-punch works fine...

You mean it doesn't work like this?

Just want to make sure we're on the same page and I fully understand your question

exactly... despite being in the correct mode, and selecting an item as you did in your demo, the recording simply spans the entire duration from when I press rec to when I press stop.

Can't think of a reason for this, to be honest. It's a pretty straighforward behavior which should work as is.... hmmmmm could you please post here a simple project with just one track? Maybe if I take a look around I'll find the problem.

OK, here's a .rar of a demo project with the problem:

https://www.box.com/s/f793b519a287600c2cf1

I recorded 3 chords on the guitar, then cut around the second chord to create a separate item. I then copied and pasted everything over to the right, to give a 'before and after' type of scenario. On the right hand one, I selected the middle clip, and in "Record mode: auto-punch selected items", hit record before the clips. As you will see, it has just recorded over the whole lot, not just the selected clip.

It's probably me missing some setting or something...

Any help appreciated.
