Default automatic time sig markers - can I turn them off?

when i drag regions around from place to place, new time signature markers are automatically created at the start and end of the region. There's getting to be quite a lot of them up there now, they're accumulating like mad across the timeline. This didn't happen before - is this an option somewhere? Can't find it...

Don't know the answer but as I've also come across this I'd like to know as well.

I really wish we could hide both tempo and time signature markers. It can get real messy when there are a lot of tempo variations. As for Tempo markers, how about just having them visible when the tempo envelope is visible?

^^

bit different topic though, in the case here (region moving/copying) they shouldn't rather be created at all when not necessary

edit:
I just tested this again.
The behaviour seems to be this:
The (redundant) tempo markers get created (in a project without tempo changes) only if you show the tempo map at least once (even when you hide it again afterwards).
When I start a new project, don't show the tempo map and drag/copy regions around they don't get created here.
Strange...
