Reset Track Heights - Useful for resetting all track heights to the default size

View: Toggle track zoom to minimum height
Track: Select all tracks
View: Zoom in vertical
View: Zoom in vertical
View: Zoom in vertical
View: Zoom in vertical
View: Toggle track zoom to minimum height
View: Zoom in vertical
View: Zoom in vertical
View: Zoom in vertical
View: Zoom in vertical
Track: Unselect all tracks

Implode all items to same track - Exact reverse of Xenakios/SWS: Explode selected items to new tracks (keeping positions)

Item: Implode items across tracks into items on one track
Item Edit: Move items up one track
SWS: Select only tracks with selected items
SWS: Select next track
Track: Cycle selected tracks folder state
Track: Remove selected tracks
SWS: Select only tracks with selected items
Track: Cycle selected tracks folder state

Bounce selected item - Select an item and render it to disk. You will need to check the 'render time selection' button in the render window.

SWS: Select only track(s) with selected item(s) (Optional)
Track: solo/unsolo selected tracks
Item: apply track FX to items
Loop Points: Set loop points to selected items
File -> Render project to disk
Take: Delete active take from items
Time Selection: Remove time selection and loop point selection
Track: Solo/unsolo selected tracks

Not perfect. Selecting multiple items across tracks will cause the time selection to expand to all selected items across all tracks. you'll get a bounce of all tracks within the time selection and possibly extra takes left over...

Create FX bus for selected tracks

SWS/S&M: Cue track from track selection (prompt)
SWS/S&M: Close all I/O windows
View -> Show FX browser

so couple of things

looping an item:

ctrl+double click
(factory default)

reset track height:
double click on the y scrollbar
(also this is factory default)

if you don't want to use the mouse go for macros

--------------------------------------

tonight i've been tryin to do a macro to chop breaks onto separate track you created before mainly but it didn't work completely right; actually not enough accuracy in transient detection i guess

Default Actions to give Cubendo like folders plus other actions (GREAT FOR DRUM EDITING)

attached is a set of 5 (i think) custom actions that make it easy to select a few tracks and turn it into a folder with an (muted) visual overview of the sum of all the items on the selected tracks. it also asks you to name the folder, choose an icon, group it for editing and can colour in various ways.

IT@S FAR FROM PERFECT but not bad.

there's actions for just foldering too.

NEEDS SWS extension from resources page (but you should have that anyway!!

problems: it works with folders within folders but the grouping will get disabled so you have to regroup.

I was going to add other features but it gets messy.

feel free to improve on it

tip: search for "MBN" to find them

Default Help with rendering time selection from multiple tracks to new item on new track.

Hello

I'm looking to construct a macro that allows me to bounce/render the FX of all selected items within a time selection to a new item on a new track...

This would allow me to layer synths across multiple tracks, each with their own effects, then with the click of a button, bounce down/render the layers to a new media item on a new track.

Any help appreciated!

Pat

Default Using loop in live.

This macro is to be used for live playing loops and pick them randomly.
Just change the number of tracks as you need.

SWS: Select only track 1 (or...2,,3,4,5...)

Item: Select all items in select track

loop points: Set loop points to select item

Markers: Go to marker 1 (or...2,3,4,5...)(need to insert a marker at the beginning of each loop)

Transport: Play/stop

look at this video:

Not sure why the marker is needed?

you can go to the left/start of the loop instead can't you?

You can also use the "seek" option in snap settings window to make it so you don't jump straight away and only at the beginning of the next bar which means seamless jumping/seeking

espero eso ayudes? mi espanol is muy mal!

You can do this using the drum overview macro and a folder, simply put all your synths in a folder mute the one's you dont want to bounce down

Render(by Mercardo Negro)
Renders loop to folder track (You need to setup a folder and select it first.)

I've been using this macro allot and there seems to be one strange flaw with it . You cant glue yore Items , if you try they'll go blank !

EDIT
Reaper can now render time selection natively so you can do all this without the use of the macro.

Default Make sel. of tracks a stereo render and delete orig

This took some time figuring out. Many audio files come in L and R tracks, but they really come from a stereo source, so I used to make a new track, set it as folder for the L&R track, render it (wait a few seconds),rename it then delete the originals.
That is at least 6 mouse clicks, and one write

Now the only thing i have to do is to press alt+F(my assigned shortcut), wait for the render, write the name + press enter, press enter for confirmation of deletion

Make sel. of tracks a stereo render and delete orig

SWS: Hide unselected tracks
SWS: Insert track above selected tracks
Track: select all tracks
Xenakios/SWS: set volume of selected tracks to 0.00 dB //I have the default volume on all tracks to -5dB *//
SWS: Unselect children of selected folder track(s)
Track: Render selected tracks to stereo stem tracks (and mute originals)
SWS: Open console with 'n' to name track(s)
Xenakios/SWS: select next track(s)
SWS: Delete track(s) with children (prompt)
SWS: show all tracks

This other one for fast Foldering
(mapped to ctrl+F for me)
insert folder for selected tracks

Sws: save current track selection
SWS: hide unselected tracks
sws: insert track above selected items
track: select all tracks
sws: make folder from selected tracks
sws: unselect children of selected folder tracks
xenakios/sws: set volume of selected tracks to 0.00 dB
sws: open console with 'n' to name tracks
sws: show all tracks
sws: restore saved track selection

Here's a simple one that let's you consolidate items the way you would in ableton live.

Convert audio items into loop:
Insert empty item
Item: Select all items in selected tracks in current time selection
Item: Glue selected items

Convert MIDI items into loop:
Insert new MIDI item
Item: Select all items in selected tracks in current time selection
Item: Glue selected items

Glue only connects the items from the beginning of the first item to the end of the last so you might not get a perfect loop. This macro makes every item in a selected track's time selection get turned into a single item. So you can turn a bunch of samples into a loop of a length specified by the time selection.

Hi all,
this is a "send to bin" custom action.

basically it mutes, hides in MCP, offlines the plugins, minimizes then cut and paste the selected track(s) at the end of your projects.

It's for those tracks you don't know what to do with, the one you can use but it's a bit crap, and you're not really sure if uyou want to delete it, might need it later or just for housekeeping.

It's better to put a "bin" folder at the end of the project.

edit:

list of actions is:
-mute track
-hide track from mcp
-cut tracks
-select all tracks
-select last of selected tracks
-paste items/tracks
-set all fx online for selected tracks
-minimize selected tracks
-unselect all tracks

Default Zoom Child Track Items, + Toggle Folder Size of Child Track Items

Hi everybody,

Zoom Child Tracks

I made a macro that zooms items or selected areas in a folder, it works whatever the collapsed state and remembers it (thanks to Jeffos/SWS).

Shift-Z to zoom to an item or area contained on a child track.

Z to unzoom back again (and Z also works as a normal zoom toggle).

Shift-F will cycle the folder size of any selected item(s).

Unmapped keymap is provided as well. The three custom actions should appear near the top of your action list when you import it.

Cheers!
Bevosss

**NB you need the latest SWS extension 1.75 beta or later for the zoom actions to work properly.

I'm sure this has been asked, but I'm not sure what to search on that wouldn't be too broad or too vague.

I'm looking for a "mulligan macro" if someone has one. Basically a single keypress to stop recording, undo my crappy playing (delete what I just played), go to the beginning marker, and start the count-in to recording again.

Thanks!

Default Gwok's View Folder Macro's

here's a set of macro's for quickly viewing folder contents etc. It uses mouse modifiers so it's v4 only - here is a vid of them in action

http://img833.**************/img833/6753/qpk.mp4

and here's how to set up the MouseModifiers - though obviously they can be set however one chooses - though I recommend avoiding the shift modifier, as it adds to what is currently selected. Only MM's with "View" in the title are relevant

Hello,

I'm still extremely new to Reaper and I have a couple of macro questions...

1. On the 3rd page of this thread, there's a macro from Bevosss to place the split audio files onto new tracks (1 places them at the beginning of each new track and the other places them in sequenced order, but on new tracks). How can I do this in version 3 of Reaper since the time selection action is either not available, or not the same in version 3? http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=10049&page=3

2. I'm trying to create a macro to duplicate a track, and then pan the original track hard left, and the newly duplicated track hard right. Is this possible?

i'm not sure there are pan controls in the actions list, you might find a hard left and hard right, but maybe not because it's not an on/off kind of thing, but hard left and hard right kind of is, so you might be lucky. look for pan in actions list. if those actions are there, then yes you can. there are actions for selecting tracks, selecting previous or next, and then all you need to pan selected track hard left or right.

Okay, so I'm assuming this is not possible then. All I found was "Track: Nudge track pan left" and Track: Nudge track pan right", but it didn't work.

hey if you install the excellent sws extension ( don't fear it, its your friend, nothing will break, only good things can happen )

there's the xenakios/sws actions: pan selected track right/left

which you can use.

Woohoo! This works now! Thank you... and yes, I had previously feared adding the extension, but I will fear not from now on!

**edit**

I've attached images of the two macros I'm now using.

The first macro duplicates the original track twice, and then pans the first duplicate hard left and the second duplicate hard right (but leaving the original centered).

The second macro duplicates the track and then pans the original hard left, and then the duplicated track hard right.

Default Transient Based Time Deletion

I have some pretty useful ones for removing all the crappy parts of improv jams if anybody could use those. Basically I set it up so Shift+S sets the beginning of a crap section, Shift+E sets the end, or Shift+D sets the end and deletes the whole section from the project. These splits all happen on the nearest transient under the mouse, so all the splits sound natural by the time you're done. You don't even have to take your eyes of the screen. I'll post em if anybody would use them.

I was wondering if anyone has a solution for this one?

This would be extremely useful for me for editing dialogue on an animation project... seriously, it would make life easier!! Any help is greatly appreciated!

**EDIT** I just found that it was already an actions installed with SWS expansion. Very useful feature!!

here's a groovy resample macro, let me know if you have a better way. The key here is to be able to resample PRE-FADER

(which record ouput DOES NOT do! hint hint )

anyway, just select the track you want to resample and run the macro and you got it - pre fader

Thanks for this one
I use a few multi-out vst`s and show midi tracks on tcp and audio tracks on mcp, hiding the others respectively.
The "show all tracks" breaks my track templates so I slightly modified it, using sws snapshots instead.
This way it preserves your previous track show/hide state for mcp and tcp.

Put selected tracks in folder preserving track state

Sws: save as snapshot 1
Sws: hide unselected track(s)
Sws: insert track above selected track(s)
Track: Select all tracks
Sws: Make folder from selected tracks
Sws: Unselect children of selected folder track(s)
Xenakios/Sws: Set volume of selected tracks to 0.0db
Sws: Open console with `n` to name track(s)
Sws: Recall snapshot 1

I`ve attached my track templates for kontakt(64) aswell just in case anyone wants it, just remember to set your outputs out in kontakt`s mixer and set as default.

Default Outboard Synth Tool quick bounce.

Ok, this works in three stages

I have it set up as follows:

Example,
track 1 = Midi to Hw synth
Track 2 = Audio from Hw synth

Select track 1
Press Shift+*

Record your midi part with normal transport controls

Select track 2
Press Ctrl+*
Name the part to be bounced

(At this point I have it set to toggle repeat off as I normally always have repeat on. You can change this to suit.
I realy wish their were seperate repeat On/Off actions.)

Stop recording when its finished (use normal stop recording command)

Press Alt+*
Track 1 and Track 2 become muted and the new audio gets moved to the new, named track.
Move your new track wherever you like.

When you want to create a new midi part, just go to the relevant midi track and press Shift+*
Track 1 and Track 2 unmute, Arm and the relevant recording modes are set.

You must keep the midi and audio tracks for whatever you want to bounce together, Midi above Audio.

EG: waldorf pulse midi
waldorf pulse audio in

I have a track template that contains all my midi stuff with audio tracks neatly in a folder.
One thing I would like to do, would be to move the new track outside the folder then collapse the folder.
Cant quite figure it out though, if anyone can help

Hope this is handy for some people.

Edit: Now colourizes the new track to green.

Together with the full exported macro setup files this would be a nice way of sharing "macro toolbars". In each package you would have then:

1. AHK code
2. icons
3. exported macro settings

Here, http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=87083 , I posted the full action list of Reaper as a text file (attachment), which can be helpful if you want to convert the macros you find here in the forum quickly into its "smart marker variant". Or other new macro ideas, especially for real-time use during project playback, along with the "smart action markers".

First time having a go at this so be gentle.

Macro to explode midi by note then freeze each resulting track. Great for drums.

Default Group Folder tracks Kinda like ableton

Dont know if i am reinventing the wheel with this one but i had to make it so though it would share.

Lets say you do a 4 pass recording of a vocal. (repeated in order to layer them) You then explode those 4 passes to different tracks.

You want to then put those 4 tracks in a folder. With a main empty track at the beginning.

I have this assigned to the shortcut Ctrl-F

To use simply highlight the tracks you want in a folder.. Press ctrl-f, (or whatever key you assign) and it creates an emptry track at beginning of selection and then puts the remaining tracks in that folder.

Cheers

nice one, i think i might put this in my right click menu. "Place selected Track(s) in new folder"

could maybe even go fancy and have multiple ones for multiple icons.

Would be nice to be able to step through custom actions.

I'd trade consolidate undo points for that.

and this one is also pretty nifty!
make a loop selection, hit the key and watch as the loop selection material is duplicated to the right... all items are shifted (rippled) to the right to make room.

also, you need to adjust your prefs such this one: is enabled.

happy fast editing!

Probably these are the new action names:
Code:
Item: Copy selected area of items 40060
Time selection: Shift right (by time selection length) 40038
Item: Split items at time selection 40061
Options: Ripple editing: Per-track 40310
Item: Paste items/tracks 40058
Options: Ripple editing: Off 40309

anyone know how to make a macro that renders a track to a new track?

eg. make a midi track with fx and then highlight it an press a button(s) to render it to a new track underneath it.

currently i solo the track go to file>render, tick add render to new track and render it which is time consuming.

also when i copy an item i want the playmarker to go to the end of the item automatically, like it does in reason. anyone help with this?

for first one, i'm sure it can be done but don't know off hand how. freezing does something like that. i think there is even a action for render stem to new track which i do believe is in default right click menu.

for second one, make custom action, move edit cursor to right of selected item/copy selected item, or vice versa.

i probably have exact terminology wrong but it should be easy enough to find in action list.
