Default Impulse responses for reaverb

Just realized I could use my bricasti M7 impulse responses in reaverb. The impulses are wavs. I was wondering if there was a way to be able use my altiverb (TiP) and space designer (SDIR) impulses for reaverb.

Thanks in advance,

C

Default re impulse responses for reaverb

Hi!
Well Logic's SDIR files are actually AIFF Files, you can see this if you click on in the Finder them and press Command+I.
Just renaming xxx.sdir to xxx.aiff doesn't seem to work properly though.
Get the Open Source wave editor Audacity. Import(load) the SDIR file into that and export it as wav or aiff file. The you are able to use the IR in ReaVerb.
Don't know if the same holds true for the Altiverb files, but it's worth a try

Cheers,
copes

It's very cheeky ... but you can just drop all the SDIR files into REAPER and export them as wavs ... the batch file convertor doesn't work, it has to be done via the edit window. I don't know if that will work with TiP files ...

But anyway ... there are IRs available for free that (imo) beat the pants off all the Space Designer ones. I would imagine the Altiverb IRs are very good, considering its pedigree.

awesome just converted the whole Logic SDIR content to wav to use it with reaverb.
any ideas what i can do with the Surround SDIR's? are there any IR's which can read it,
and of course is there a way to save them to wav - without using the 6 channels in 1 file?

(im on windows, but your method worked there aswell )

My limited Tip experience

There may be some free, possibly good third party Tip files on the net. I downloaded some a few years ago, but had problems converting them in audacity.

I had to guess the bit depth and rate, but I suspect there may also be header information. Without knowing the file specification it is not possible for most of us. People with debugging tools and experience may be able to manually parse (read) the header and extract the impulse.

Good luck!
