Default Exporting Stems (Sidechain Compression)

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to talk about a topic that came up when I was exporting some stems to mix in Reaper coming from another DAW. How do you guys go about dealing with sidechain compression when exporting stems? (IDM, electronic music).

For example, in another DAW I have a few tracks routed to a "Sidechain" buss. For the stems, I would just leave the sidechain off during render since it's pretty easy to re-create the effect in reaper when doing the mixdown. What if this wasn't the case? What if I had different thresholds and groups of tracks being sidechained?

I know most DAWs won't freeze the effect of the sidechain compressor onto each individual track, so you would likely have to recreate this in Reaper correct?

Just some thoughts.

Ha I have this worry all the time. My solution - export both! They get the original so they can sidechain it in whatever way they want to themselves, but they also have the way YOU did it.

It's just like wet and dry stems really...

Haha very nice. I'm going to test a number of scenarios and see what is easiest.
