Default Hugo Ribeiro - "Bend"

This is an original song I wrote called "Bend". I wrote this song back in October. All of the instruments are synthetic except for the drums of course. It was all recorded and mixed by me.
I plan on doing more originals in the future.

I'm also available for session work! Check my website for more info!

I apologize for the poor quality of the front camera, the lighting in the drum room isn't the best!

If you dig my stuff, SUBSCRIBE, LIKE and SHARE!

Thanks for watching!

If anyone's interested, the song is also available as a FREE download on Soundcloud:

Very Nice! Excellent drum work as well. What did you use for the guitars?

Nice work Hugo --- tricky feet! Very tight.

Imagine how much fun you could have if you were an octopus(with drums that is).

Thank you!
the guitars are Midi with a clean sounding electric guitar the I used Amplitube for distortion.
I was actually surprised with the results. Although they sound fake.. they dont sound bad.. just different!! IMO of course.

Sounds awesome, Hugo!

I can vouch for Hugo - He played a track for me - sounded great - he did an outstanding job!

I'm still mixing it - I'll post here when done.

Dude, you're a killer drummer. You're a hard hitter, but you also do a lot of little subtle things, which is awesome. Great control. Great sounding drums too.

The song is really quite cool, although I agree with shemp on the guitar.

Haha, you're like the opposite of many self producing artists who tend to play real guitars and bass, but use midi drums. How awesome is that?

You've done a bloody good job of those midi guitars Hugo.

After reading your post and before i listened to the track i had a totally different sonic picture in my head as to what the midi guitars would sound like , i was very suprised to hear what you did with them, great job man!

Very nice drumming BTW.

Cheers

Thanks Shemp! It was an aesthetic decision. Just to sound different.

Thanks kindafishy! Like I said earlier. The guitars sounds synthetic which is an aesthetic decision. And yeah.. haha.. never thought of it that way..true.. I use acoustic drums with everything else MIDI!

Thanks so much Wolfman! Really appreciate it! Yeah, the guitars sound pretty good for MIDI IMO. It was intentional.
Planning on making more in the near future!

cheers and thanks to all for watching and commenting!

Nice work Hugo! Very tight playing, and I dig that fake guitar sound. I bet if you didn't tell anyone it was MIDI, you'd have a bunch of people asking which pedals/effects you used to get that crazy guitar sound!

WOW dude, awesome chops, in my time on the road and as a metal concert promoter and also as an extreme metal drummer myself, Ive seen a lot of very good and very smooth drummers, you are a very good and very smooth drummer, nothing looks forced at all, youre not stiff, nicely done. Great song too, if you ever want me to lend some vocals, I would be happy to do so, I can sing death metal as you heard on my stuff but I can do a lot of other styles as well and Id be happy to collaborate with yah anytime.

Thanks so much Scotty! Really appreciate it!
I went for this type of guitar sound so it would be different from whats out there somehow. But I also like the sound of how it turned out since this was an experimental song.

cheers

Thanks a lot man! Sure man! I have various people that want to put vocals on it. You can download my song through my Soundcloud account and put whatever comes to mind! I'd be glad to listen to it with vocals!

cheers

Youre on friend, do you have a lyrical idea for it or just whatever I feel like writing about on the serious side of things.

You're real bad on the drums, dude (I mean this in a good way of course) And the tracks's sounding great too. I really dig the different variations throughout the tune. You show a lot of creativity!

Keep it up!

Man this is a great night for listening to music. This is freaking awesome! Mix is a little thin and boxy sounding. Definitely needs some EQing. Really digging on the song. You know, I think it would really help to bring the guitars up in the mix. It might be just that the drums are too loud (great playing by the way). I'd start by bringing the guitars up and then EQing the whole mix to bring in a little more crispness and definition. Definitely glad I listened to this tune. You're very creative!

Thanks so much for listening and commenting! Yes, I put the drums a bit louder on purpose. I do these vidz to promote my drum sessions so the drums are a priority.

cheers

Nice track and suits the title perfectly. I really like the main groove. The guitars may sound fake, but would they if I didn't know they were? I'm not sure. Of course the drumming sounds great, as is to be expected. I'm not listening on great speakers, but is there any bass in there? That's the only thing that it sounds like it's missing at times. I'm a little disappointed in the big red tie, but it's a cool track.

I always end up throwing away my virtual guitar tracks. I just can't get them to sound right, so it's good to see it can be done well.

Thanks!!! Yeah, everything is intentionally fake except the drums... obviously!
Yes, there is bass in there also. Not too present, but its there.

Thanks again for watching and commenting!

cheers
