Theme: ReaBorn DRK Pro (a ReaBorn total modification)
Hi, wanted to share with everyone this theme that is basically a mash-up of the themes i liked more plus some custom elements and layout by me.
Cant really make a list of credits as there are so many parts and ideas in it that i dont know where to start but, the basecode was ReaBorn so thanks Moritz for it
Nice features it have:
-can show massive amount of tracks in both TCP/MCP views when compacting them (on 1920x1080 you get 49 tracks in TCP and master+29 in MCP without losing any feature. Alternatively, in extreme cases, you can use COMPACT layout in MCP to get master+54 tracks)
-label tracks
-different meters for recording/playing and full red meter for clipping
-widening width knobs
-all primary controls that require easy overview are in the center horizontal line of the mixer
-micromixer mode for super small screen and also for fast&easy mixer+arranger view in a single screen
-extremely easy on the eyes
-big faders (by albertxxxx)
feel free to bring up suggestions and/or mod it to hell.

This looks nice. I'm getting a slight MOTO DP8 vibe and that's a very good thing. They do dark themes a little better then most because they're not afraid of contrast. You know....too much dark gray over light gray...that kind of thing. Most composers are night workers. I understand all that but lets not forget that the drop down menus at the top of Reaper are going to burn like high-beams anyway so what's the point in having a theme too dark from the start. I think you're on the right track here. Also, please check the last posts on the "Apollo for all" thread. I think we may be on to something with resize saving in the dock.

Nice!! Can I beg you for horizontal meters on the TCP?
That would make this theme perfect for me.

You just have to resize the mixer in height: once you hit the 360pixel height (or less) the micromixer mode automatically enables.
For now it works only when using the MIDCOMPACT layout for MCP (that is also the default layout for mixerview in the screenset linked to this theme in the link description!)
In next release the micromixer will be for all layouts to add more versatility.

There is no appdata folder on Osx as much as I know. There must be another folder to put the screenset.ini into when opening Reaper package content in application I guess. It would certainly work on my pc desktop but on the laptop no cigar for now.

Try just change the global MCP layout to NORMAL.
Options->Layouts->Mixer Panel->NORMAL

How do you resize the mixer to get the micro deal?????
I mean....I am resizing it...but...all that happens is the volume control and pan knobs and such disappear under the track info stuff.

After a little more the track autoresizes (is valid only when Mixer layout is in Normal, if you are using it without screenset the default is "complete")

For what, dan ? You can't have "mono" tracks by just making a fake mono meter.
But i think with the right meter width and the right meter.vu.div value
you can remove the middle line, so it will look like a mono meter (for mono items).

again... nice theme.. and it has shown me a flaw in reaper itself:
IF you use a docked mixer in your screen sets, where it is docked to the left of the TCP panels, AND you set it up as a 'track inspector' type view... AND you then use the compact layout to have very thin MCP panel, ...Reaper will NOT let you close up that dock to just show one very narrow [thin] MCP panel...
I realize most people might not care, but it would be nice to be able to close up the width of that 'track inspector' to whatever we want, eh?

New to Reaper and DAW in general.......but...... been lurking around in the Theme forum and looking at various Themes from people.
I for sure like the looks of this one.
Just do this as a personal hobby. Small music files, mayb 4-8 tracks. For personal home use and as a hubby.
1. Is there some minimum system, hardware set up needed?
Ruuning and older AMD Athlon processor 3200+ with 2.01 GHz and 2 GB ram. Graphic is a Diamond Radeon Board with 256MG mem
2. How do i go about installing this
3. Should i do it, and find my OLD PC can't support it, how do i go back to default

Drake, Thanks for your effort. This is a very unique theme! This is a theme with great potential to be the perfect compact/micro theme for laptop use.
At the moment, it falls short, IMO, on some issues. I have pointed out some of my suggestions in the screencap. Please consider them, if you have time to modify your theme in the future.
To make it clear - in the attached screenshot, i wasn't able to display FX inserts. There appears to be enough space to display FX, but I have to increase the height by another 20% to display atleast one FX instance. At the moment, there is a lot of wasted free space.

I sadly know of this limitation of Reaper. If in future they implement a proper Inspector View i guess it will be added a way to resize it (or maybe a dedicated skin definition just for that to prevent conflicts)
Also the way i manage different RightPan/Width knob is kinda a 1pixel hack but would be great to have it with a different PNG loaded based on what pan setup is used.

NEW UPDATE OUT...
https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/1121/REABORN%20DRK%20PRO
Changes:
- Slimmer Transport Bar (yay!)
- Corrected the not fully optimized space when mixer is super-small (extremely tiny is working at best only when sends/params NOT visible in mixer, this is reaper limitation...)
- inner faders (used for Cockos/JS/SendsForm) now follow the style of main mixer
- Mixer default layout is now the "normal" instead of "complete", making instantly obvious the advantage (in screen estate) you get from the theme.
Hope you will like it!

Thanks a lot for your work.
After trying your theme, maybe I will change my theme.
The normal mixer layout makes the most difference.
But I am not very comfortable with your TCP layout.
Maybe you can help.
First, the peak waveforms of the items, have a default color of blue.
When you zoom in, the waveform isn't just a line, but it has some thickness.
Is there a way to change that?
Also I tried to change some colors from the preferences, but it doesn't seem to override your colors.
I want to transform your TCP colors like the image I attach.
This is what I use.
Thanks again for your work

I finally managed to make some changes.
A few more things I noticed:
1.There is no Input FX button.
2.The envelope button stays off, even when you make an envelope.
3.It would be nice to have a few more choices for the master track in the TCP, besides the meter.
4. I can't find a folder button on the TCP
If anyone is interested, I can upload the theme

Nice work on the theme.
I have a question for you on using something you do with this theme in the theme I am currently using.... if you don't mind :-)
I really like the colored arcs around the knobs showing their position. I think that is so cool and at a quick glance it is obvious where the knobs are set.
Is there an easy way to transfer and use that into the theme I am currently using?
Is it in the walter coding? Or in the knob pngs/stacks themselves, of which I know nothing about ;-). Or is it most likely both??

If you are saying that you fixed these missing things that you noticed, then YES ...please do upload your version to the stash.
I noticed all those same missing things. Thank you much.

Hello, sorry for late reply!
The knobs are just stacks so you can simply copy them. There is a small trick i used (1 pixel trick) to make Width & Pan knobs interchange style automatically without use of Layouts. For that hack you will need also some walter changes.
Quote:
1.There is no Input FX button.
|
--You can open InputFX by keeping pressed SHIFT while clicking on the FX button
Quote:
2.The envelope button stays off, even when you make an envelope.
|
--Which button? You mean the REC? It goes "on" only if the track or global env mode is Touch/Latch/Write else doesn't (because it can't record it).
Quote:
3.It would be nice to have a few more choices for the master track in the TCP, besides the meter.

--Give me some examples please!
Quote:
4. I can't find a folder button on the TCP
|
--Is the folder icon itself on the left of the name of the track (doesnt appear until you make a folder using drag'n'drop)
Thanks everyone for using my theme, i will try to make it even better on next release
there will be some massive changes on TCP and few tweaks on MCP.
Oh, if anyone wants to use parts of my theme... you are free to go!

Thanks for the answers.
Actually I find a folder button useful when creating folders, but I can live without it too.
For the master track, a layout with the main controls (volume, fx, mute, mono) is useful in the TCP.
And one more request.
Is it possible to fit a phase button in the MCP for the normal layout?

I will try to see where i can put it... is quite cramped up there
Shorter faders could be a viable solution (and put button under them) but wouldn't that damage them a bit?
