Moving around items which are automated, changes the curve of the automation. Undesired behavior, or at least unexpected. See the gif for the effect. Bottom two lanes are the X[1-2] envelopes of ReaSurroundPan, top lane is a freq env of ReaEQ, to check. The top is not affected, but the bottom two really are.
If I untick the <Media Items> checkbox under "Automatically add edge points when editing" in Preferences [Envelope Display], the effect is cancelled out.
I use that as a workaround at the moment.
Thanks, but that is not exactly what is happening. When moving the item, new envelopes segments are *created*. For free, as in didn't ask for and were not there before. Maybe that was not too clear from the gif I made.
The behavior seems to be a bug when using <slowstart/slowend> as default envelope points. When choosing <linear> the behavior is normal.
Again, this concerns the "creative" behavior of envx and envy of ReaSurroundPan when splitting and moving items.
It looks like - when using <slowstart/slowend> envelope points as a default while having <Automatically add edge points when editing> enabled- the default value for the new edge points is set at the wrong value.
That seems like a bug to me.
I can't reproduce this, but it appears from the screencap what is happening is that REAPER is trying to write a new envelope point at the cursor location, at a different value from the existing envelope. That suggests there's some input coming from somewhere. Is the envelope armed for recording automation? Is there a controller mapped to the plugin parameter?
No to both of your questions, it just "happens". If either of them were true, it should also happen when changing the envelope type, which it doesn't. If I change the type to linear, all is fine. But "slow start/slow end" gives trouble.
OK, confirmed! This is an odd bug having to do with the curve shape and the inverted nature of these envelopes (left = lower X-value = top of envelope, in order to be consistent with pan envelope behavior). We should be able to fix for the next build.
