I am new I went to use the program and the cursor does not move when I hit play. I have uninstalled / reinstalled I am using an Alesis io26. Confused! I have recorded, played and rendered files as recent as yesterday.
Most likely a conflict for your audio card with another program like iTunes or Windows Media player. Close anything like that which might be open and then in Reaper/Options/Preferences/Audio/Device make sure that your ASIO driver is selected.

I'm having the same problem with the ASIO driver I'm using. My situation is a little more complicated as I'm trying to get Reaper to play out through my MBox2. Reaper detects the audio interface just fine, but the cursor just sits there when I hit play. I also have ASIO4ALL installed that that works as well, but just plays through my soundcard. I was about to open a new thread when I saw this one.
Is this a REAPER only problem or do you get the same with other audio progs (if you have any)
I've had problems with the more recent drivers for my iO26. I'm away from the studio so can't quote chapter and verse, but it might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling an earlier set.
