Default 8 channel interface

Hi all. I was discussing this in another thread but I thought i would make a new post to try and drum up a few more opinions. After owning the m-audio profire 2626 for less than a week, I'm looking at selling it and getting something a bit more 'reliable'. I've experienced blue screen after blue screen and it seems that m-audio haven't bothered to fix/update their drivers for ages - lesson learned.
I'm looking for 8 mic inputs with good preamps for recording drums, vox and guitars. FireWire or USB. Running win 7 32-bit and of course reaper!!
Just wondering if anyone can give knowledge or experience first and foremost on which interfaces have rock-solid drivers (no BSOD!!!!!) and of course good quality preamps (don't want much do I?!)
So far peeps have suggested echo audiofire pre8, motu 8pre and focusrite sapphire pro 40.
Of course like most of us in this business im on a budget!! Cheers for any help you can give me

I'm currently looking into getting an 8 channel device, I've been sold on the Pro 40 for a while now - so i'm also interested in hearing some opinions on this.

I own the MOTU 2408 Mk3 and love it to bits! So i'm gonna also recommend the MOTU 8pre.

But after servicing a Focusrite recently and seeing the mic pre's, and it's a solid performer, i'm gonna mention the Sapphire Pro 40 as well.

Also, theres the Mackie Onyx Blackbird

I'm totally happy with my saffire pro 40 ! Preamps are crystal clean and I did not experiment any problem since 2 years I own it (unlike the previous presonus firebox I owned)

Ok thanks guys. I'm leaning towards the focusrite saffire pro 40 at this stage. Is there anyone out there that knows if this unit will cause issues on win 7 32 bit?? After using this profire 2626, I want to be sure before I go out and buy another interface..
Thanks

Are you sure your 2626 issue is not due to your PC firewire chipset ? Did you use DPCLatency check utility ?

Because if your issue is a bad firewire there are chances you'll have issues with many interfaces ...

if you HAVE to have 8 built in mic pres, i'd consider this over the other choices:

otherwise i'd get an echo audiofire12 and use outboard pres.
